Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who has made films like Karz, Ram Lakhan, Taal, Pardes, among others, has been accused of sexual misconduct by a female actor. The actor claimed in a recent interview that Ghai tried to forcibly kiss her inside his house where she visited him with her boyfriend. The female actor claimed that Ghai made her uncomfortable with his remarks on her looks, and hinted that she could become a famous actor in Bollywood.

The filmmaker has now posted a cryptic note where he has said that it is “scary to meet unknown” people who could say things “just for publicity.”

The female actor told Galatta India that her then-boyfriend was Ghai’s manager at the time and he took her to meet the director at his house. However, she felt uncomfortable with the way he talked to her, and she left after he tried to kisss her. She also ended her relationship with the manager as she imagined that he must have known about the filmmaker’s behaviour as well, but brought her to his house anyway.

After her accusations, Ghai shared an Instagram post where he said that while seniors must help juniors in the movies, he found it “scary” to meet unknown people. He, however, didn’t name anyone. “Tho it’s duty of all senior experts to help n guide kids in their profession if they come to you for help. But today it’s scary to meet unknown guys where they want to be seen in social media with right or wrong statements just for publicity. God bless them 🙏🏽A Mutual respect is first thing in making respectful career 🙏🏽🤗”

This is not the first time that Ghai is battling such accusations. Back in 2018, another female actor had accused Ghai of forcibly trying to kiss her. She claimed that he asked her for a massage, and tried to kiss her without her consent. Back then, Ghai shared on X (formerly Twitter), “I am surely a great supporter of the me too movement and women empowerment but hope that those taking undue advantage of the movement do not end up diluting it for their own short time fame. I feel grief if someone trying to harm my reputation. Any way my lawyers will take care of matter,” he wrote.
