Satish received a lot of love for his character Indravadan Sarabhai on the show. He was also loved for his comic roles in films like Main Hoon Na, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Judwaa, Hero No 1, among many others. Satish was a constant presence on television shows since the 1980s, when Doordarshan was still in its early days. He played prominent parts in shows like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Filmi Chakkar.
Born in Gujarat, Satish studied at the Xavier’s College and later joined Film and Television Institute of India. He entered acting with films Bhagwan Parshuram (1970) but it was with Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro that his name came to the limelight. In the 1980s, he appeared in many horror films as well. He is survived by wife Madhu Shah.

Recalling his experience working with Satish Shah, Neil Nitin Mukesh told ANI, "Satish ji was like my father. In fact, my first film was ‘Mujhse Dosti Karte Hain’ as an assistant director. He also worked on that film. And he gave me a lot of love and respect. Bahut yaad aa rahai hai unki (So, I am missing him a lot)...He was a very good human being, and I respected him a lot. Late actor Satish Shah's manager, Ramesh Kadatala, shared with ANI: "Kal lunch karte samaye hua tha. Vo khana khaate khaate ek niwala khaye, phir collapse hua. Kuch half an hour laga ambulance laane mein...hospital jaane par declare kiya doctor ne (It happened while he was having lunch. He ate a bite and then collapsed. It took around half an hour to get the ambulance. After reaching the hospital, the doctor declared him dead)."

In an interview with PTI, actor-producer Jamnadas Majethia shared, "I am so shocked by the news. I received a call that Satish ji is no more. I couldn’t believe it because around 11:30 am he had chatted with Atish, and shortly after we got the news that he’s gone. We were supposed to meet day after before yesterday; I was right below his house, but he said he was too tired to meet and that we’d meet soon."
In an interview, Sachin Pilgaonkar opened up about the extraordinary devotion Satish Shah showed to his wife, Madhu Sha. He said, "He got a kidney transplant only to extend his wife’s life. Unfortunately, even Madhu isn’t well. She has Alzheimer’s. This year, Satish got his kidney transplanted. He wanted to extend his life so that he could take care of Madhu. He was on dialysis. Earlier, he underwent a bypass surgery, which was successful."
A recent video shows an ambulance, decorated with flowers and bearing the actor’s photo, arriving at late actor Satish Shah’s residence. His final journey is expected to begin soon.

Anupam Kher shared an emotional video on Satish Shah after the actor's 'shocking' death. In the video, Anupam said, "Kya ho raha hai yeh? 3-4 din mein itne acche acche log chale gaye. Kya ho raha hai yeh (What is happening? In the last 3-4 days, so many good people have left us. What is happening?). The actor also recalled that he would address Satish as "Satish mere Shah (Satish, my King)." He added, "He was a very good friend of mine. Shocking, it's shocking... I was with him in so many films. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Priyanka Chopra re-shared a post and wrote along with a folded hands emoji, "Rest in Peace, Satishji."

Veteran actor Satish Shah died on October 25 at around 2:30 pm at Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital. Actor and filmmaker Sachin Pilgaonkar shared in a recent interview with News18 Showsha, “Satish and I would keep exchanging texts. In fact, I received a message from him at 12:56 pm today (On the day of his death), which means he was absolutely fine even at that time. That I’m in shock is an understatement."
According to the latest reports, Satish Shah’s mortal remains will be kept for antim darshan at his Bandra residence from 10 am to 11 am.
The funeral will be held at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle (West), Mumbai, with the cremation scheduled for 12 pm.
Sumeet Raghavan, who shared screen space with Satish Shah in Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, took to his Instagram handle to share an emotional video to pay tribute to his late co-star.
“Because there’s only one Indravardhan — that’s Satish kaka (uncle). He’s left all us all today. The bigger this show got, the stronger our bond became. So, whenever we meet each other, that’s how we talk to each other. Today, we’ve lost the karta purush, senior most member of our family. He was struggling for days. Finally, life can be very cruel,” said a visibly emotional Sumeet.
“As the elder son of this family, I accept all your condolences. So long, dad! Safe travels! See you on the other side,” the actor concluded.
Ramesh Taurani shared an emptional post about Satish Shah's death and wrote, "RIP dear Satish Shah ji. Thank you for making magic at the movies. Can't believe we just met you four months ago on our set with David Ji and @varundvn and you were so happy and warm with everyone and today you are no longer with us. Life is truly unpredictable. We will miss you. My deepest condolences to the family. Om Shanti."
Sudhir Mishra recalled how Satish Shah made the Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron scenes, where he was essentially playing a dead body, iconic. "During the famous coffin scene, Renu (Saluja, editor) had the idea that there should be an intercut. What sense did it make to focus on a dead body? But that's when Satish started changing his expressions in the scene and that became a pattern. It was the same with the Mahabharata scene. The idea of comedy as a farce, yet milking the scene to its fullest, came naturally to Satish," he said.
Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis morned Satish Shah's death. "I am shocked by the news of the passing of renowned Indian cinema actor Shri Satish Shah. He captivated audiences with his performances and his remarkable comic timing in films like "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron," "Main Hoon Na," "Kaho Na Pyaar Hai," "Hum Saath Saath Hain," "Judwaa," and serials like "Sarabhai vs Sarabhai." His passing is an irreparable loss to the Indian art scene. May his soul rest in peace and give strength to his family, friends, and all those associated with him to bear this loss," he wrote on X.
Commentator Harsha Bhogle mourned Satish Shah's death. He wrote on X, "Why are the people who gave us joy going away? Having just said good bye to Piyush Pandey, comes the news of the passing of Satish Shah who was brilliant in Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and so many many more."
Satish Shah is survived by his wife, Madhu Shah. The couple didn't have any children. She is a designer by profession. They got married in 1972.
Anupam Kher, who is currently in Switzerland, is devastated after hearing the news of actor Satish Shah's demise. Taking to his X handle, he shared a video. Breaking into tears, the actor said: "What is happening? In three days, we lost three amazing people. I have known all of them. My smile hides a lot of sorrow. Everytime I called him, I would be like: 'Satish, mere Shah!' And he would reply, 'Mere Jahapana!' I will wear my glasses, I can't show my tears. He was a great friend of mine. I am currently in Switzerland, sat in a cafe where they shot for DDLJ--I was extremely happy. But when I opened my phone, I read that he is no more. He worked with me in DDLJ. In frustration, he asked: "Why did you do this? You had no right to go away like this. I am really sad. I have no words to express his loss. He is the most amazing actor and person."

According to reports, Satish Shah's mortal remains will be kept at his house in Bandra between 10 am to 11 am on Sunday. His last rites will be performed at Pawan Hans cremation ground S.V.Road at 12 pm.
After veteran actor Satish Shah's death, PD Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre issued a statement confirming the news. In a press note they wrote: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of veteran actor Mr. Satish Shah."
Sharing the cause of death, they said: "Earlier today, the hospital received an emergency call regarding Mr. Shah’s health. An ambulance with a medical team was immediately sent to his residence, where he was found to be unresponsive. CPR was started in the ambulance itself and continued on arrival at P. D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre. Despite the best efforts of our medical team, Mr. Shah could not be revived."

Actor Rakesh Bedi broke down after learning the news of the death of his FTII batchmate Satish Shah. Taking to his Instagram handle, the actor shared a video. Visibly emotional, Rakesh said: "Actually, I don't know how to say it friends-- I am feeling extremely emotional today. In fact, I am finding it difficult to even speak. One of my dearest friends, Satish Shah is no more. He was my batchmate at FTII. We did Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi together and many more movies. Actor Rajesh Kumar, who played the role of Roshesh in Satish Shah's popular series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai told SCREEN that the death of the actor is a huge loss for him.
He said: "This is the worst hour for me. I still cannot process that Satish ji is no more. All I can say is that it feels like I have lost my father. A man full of life and humour. He challenged everything. He made a name for himself and has left his mark as an actor."
He added: "This is a big loss to the industry and us ( Sarabhai family). Let’s pray for his departed soul and keep him in your prayers. I can’t talk much as not in the right frame."
Filmmaker-producer David Dhawan is shocked to learn the news of his friend Satish Shah's demise. Speaking to HT City, the filmmaker shared: “You don’t even know how close we were. We passed out from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) together. Forget the number of films we did, we knew each other for 50 years! I did my editing, he did acting.”
The filmmaker shared that after his dialysis, the actor would often meet him in on his film set. "I have such great memories with him. He used to get his dialysis done from Leelavati hospital in Mumbai. If I would be shooting in Mehboob Studios, I used to ask him ‘aayega?’, he used to come and meet everyone on set!" Dhawan said Satish Shah's health problems began after his kidney transplant.
The filmmaker said that despite having quit acting, Satish Shah promised to act in his film.
Satish Shah's dear friend and actor Gajendra Chauhan said he was worried about his overweight. Speaking with India Today, the actor said: "Satish was a very close friend of mine. We have worked together in films and television. He was not at all a serious guy. His comic timing was amazing. He was an extremely intelligent man. He would solve any problem in seconds. I was worried about his weight and would often question him about it. I would ask: 'Are yaar, why don't you lose weight?' And he be like: 'I am surviving just fine with this weight.' He was fond of hunting and buying huge cars. He was a man full of life. I think our industry is cursed. We lost too many celebrities back-to-back."
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar took to his official X handle to express his grief over veteran star Satish Shah's death. Parmeet Sethi says he cannot wrap his head around his co-star Satish Shah's death. He told SCREEN: "I knew his heart was weak. He had a heart attack earlier too. I am very shocked. We were not in touch, but we worked on a couple of films together. He was one of the most loved people on set. He always had some anecdotes about his theater days. He had such great camaraderie with Shah Rukh Khan during DDLJ. He was so fond of guns, and he was a very fit guy. Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan, who worked with Satish Shah in her directorial debut film Main Hoon Na penned a heartfelt note for the star. Sharing his picture on her Instagram Stories, Farah wrote: "Rest in peace dearest. Satish, you were a joy to know and work with. Will miss you sending me memes and jokes everyday.

Actor-writer JD Majethia spoke to Hindustan Times and shared that Satish Shah had developed an infection in his kidney. "He passed away at his home in Mumbai today. He was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late. At the moment, the doctors at the hospital are doing some formalities. Other information and cremation details will also be shared later tonight."
According to India Today, Satish Shah's manager confirmed that the actor was battling kidney-related complications and had recently undergone a transplant. The actor's mortal remains is currently at the hospital with the funeral scheduled to take place on Sunday.

We always texted each other on the Sarabhai [WhatsApp] group. He was like a family for me. I don't know about his health but I was aware that he had a kidney transplant. Maybe that caused complications. But, I don't think I am the right person to say all this. I am completely numbed. He was the liveliest in our group."
Delnaaz Irani, who has worked with the actor in films like Kal Ho Naa Ho, told SCREEN: "Oh My God! I didn't even about his death. More than work, we knew each other socially also. He was so jovial, so full of life. We met at so many parties where he was there as Sarabhai. I am shocked to hear this."
Actor Satyajeet Dubey took to his X handle to express his grief over his co-star's death. He wrote, "Deeply saddened to hear about Satish Shah sir’s passing. He was such an incredible actor, he lit up every frame he was in. I had the privilege of working with him in my debut film Always Kabhi Kabhi, and his warmth and brilliance have stayed with me ever since."
