Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan starrer Karan Arjun was one of the most remarkable films of Rakesh Roshan. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the two superstars played brothers in the 1995 action-romantic drama 30 years ago. Recently, the filmmaker released a generational documentary The Roshans on Netflix, capturing the legacy of the Roshan family. In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Rakesh opened up about actor Salman Khan’s absence from the series.
While Shah Rukh appeared in The Roshans, many fans questioned about Salman not being in it. Rakesh spoke about it at length during the conversation and said, “I did call him up but he was stuck in his own problems and that’s why he couldn’t make it.” Salman has received multiple death threats allegedly from gangster, Lawrence Bishnoi.

The actor-turned-director further added, “Salman really wanted to be a part of it and he would give us his dates but cancel it at the last moment. He has been going through the issues that we’re seeing going on these days. We all recognised that he wasn’t there. If he was there, he could’ve shared some more light on us and his experiences during Karan Arjun.”
The duo Salman and SRK hasn’t collaborated or appeared in lead roles together since Karan Arjun, despite their cameos in each other’s films in recent years. When asked if he can bring them back together on screen and make fans happy, Rakesh replied, “If I’ve a good story with me where their tracks run parallel as it was in Karan Arjun, I can definitely bring them back.”
The Roshans focused on the life of the legendary music composer Roshan Lal Nagrath, his sons Rakesh and Rajesh Roshan, and grandson Hrithik Roshan. The documentary featured several Bollywood celebs who have worked with the Roshans, including, Asha Bhosle, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zinta, and many others. It has gauged a lot of praise and heartwarming reviews from the audience.
