Actor R Madhavan is currently promoting his latest release Hisaab Barabar and during one of the recent promotional interviews, the actor spoke about his finances and shared that his wife Sarita thinks that he isn’t smart when it comes to financial matters. He also spoke about enjoying the liberty that his stardom gets him, and how he is quite different than Aamir Khan when it comes to spending.
During an interview with Just Too Filmy in the promotional rounds for his film, Madhavan opened up about certain aspects of his personal financial life, and said, “My wife thinks I am generous to a fault. And I am a fool. And I don’t know how to handle my money. She thinks I keep giving it away. I think I’m very particular about it, but she says not even from a remote corner are you particular about it. I spend what I have.”
However, Madhavan also added that he understands the perks of stardom, but believes in tailoring that to suit his persona, and not change himself to fit into perceptions of stardom. “I am not very careful about my spending but I always live within my means so if I desire to have a bigger car or better stuff… but if it doesn’t fit my budget, I will not buy it. I don’t have worldly possessions, that is the reflection of my stardom. But I do have the liberty that this stardom offers me and I enjoy it,” he said.
Interestingly, Madhavan was also questioned whether he carried a wallet along with him unlike his 3 Idiots co-star Aamir Khan, who, apparently walks around without one. “I am never that extreme. Aamir’s stardom allows him to be like that. Whatever he requires, he has people to pay for it. Of course, he would pay them… and it isn’t like he doesn’t pay for it,” said Madhavan, adding, “I think my personality doesn’t allow me to walk around with an entourage. I prefer walking alone. I want that freedom, and the ability to interact with people.”
Hisaab Baraabar, directed by Ashwini Dhir, also stars Kirti Kulhari, Manu Rishi, Rashami Desai, and Faisal Rashid.
