After Shilpa Shetty announced the closure of her restaurant Bastian, one of Mumbai’s most iconic eateries and a popular hotspot for celebrity parties and get-togethers, the internet went into overdrive. However, on Wednesday, Shilpa shared a video clarifying her stance and also urged Bastian patrons not to turn their love for the restaurant “toxic.”
Shilpa posted a video of herself while being on a call and saying, “No, I am not shutting down Bastian. I promise!” She rolled her eyes and shared how she has received multiple calls after she announced closure of Bastian. She added, “But one thing’s for sure, I can feel the love for Bastian. But don’t turn this love toxic. Bastian is going nowhere.” She further said, “So yes, with a heavy heart, we have closed one chapter. But two new stories are waiting to be written.” She clarified that the iconic Bandra outlet will be transformed into a new South Indian restaurant named Ammakai, while Bastian will move to Juhu and reopen as Bastian Beach Club.
Her caption reiterated the same, as it read, “Bandra Bastian was the root to our tree called Bastian Hospitality, like a tree blooms new fruits our favourite Bandra restaurant is giving way to a new one called AMMAKAI, South Indian Mangalorean cuisine taking me back to my roots. Your Favourite Bastian is going to Juhu, with the name of Bastian Beach Club. So BASTIAN is staying, going nowhere!!!!! Full credit to my brother, partner and CEO of our enterprise Ranjeet Bindra @ranjeetbindra for having this vision of transforming the hospitality business with his expertise and passion at this scale. God Speed 😇🙌🏼.”
Meanwhile, Shilpa and her husband Raj Kundra are currently embroiled in a Rs 60 crore fraud case. Businessman Deepak Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services Ltd, has filed a fraud complaint against them. Speaking with ANI, Shilpa and Raj’s lawyer Prashant Patil denied the allegations and said, “All allegations are false. We have not received a copy of the FIR so far. When we receive a copy, we will get to know the exact allegations. On that basis, we will adopt the next legal remedy. But this transaction is quite old, 7-8 years old.”
