JEE Mains 2024 Session 2 Toppers List: Twins from Gurugram, Aarav and Aarush Bhatt, have been preparing for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for the past couple of years. Their determination to crack JEE Advanced is so strong that despite cracking JEE Main, both have returned to preparation rather than celebrating their success.
While Aarav scored 100 percentile, Aarush got 99.65. JEE Main Session 2 result was released on April 24.
Nineteen-year-old Aarav is one of the 56 candidates who have scored a 100 percentile this year. Like a few others, he only appeared for the January 2024 session, and decided to not appear for the April session.
“My focus has always been JEE Advanced and since I got 100 percentile in session 1, I decided to skip the April session. Advance is the ultimate goal that will help me achieve my dream,” he told indianexpress.com.
Even though Aarush says he was “expecting a bit more”, he too decided to focus on JEE Advanced instead of re-appearing for 100 percentile in session 2.
Unlike a few toppers in the past, Aarav does not wish to pursue the usual route of Computer Science Engineering, and instead wants to secure a seat in Mathematics and Computing at IIT Delhi. His brother, Aarush, too wants to take up BSc Mathematics in IIT Bombay. The reason behind their love for mathematics is their mother.

“Our mother has a degree in MSc Math and an MA in Yoga, and our father has an electrical engineering degree. Therefore, our love for mathematics started in our childhood. Seeing our parents pursue this line also inculcated the same dream in us, and that’s why we never thought about pursuing CSE or other fields. Our mother also taught mathematics till Class 10, so that inspired us more,” the twins said.
However, when asked if they have targeted any specific IIT, the twins quickly reiterated that their focus is on achieving a good score in JEE Advanced.
“We will think about the institute when we crack JEE Advanced. We have been told that we will get enough time to explore IITs in our first year of engineering, so we will think about all this only then,” they said.
Despite the popular culture of dummy schools among the JEE Main aspirants, Aarav and Aarush decided to continue their regular school at Amity International, Gurugram sector 43 as they believe the routine helped them stay disciplined.
“We used to leave for school at 7 am and attend our regular classes. This helped us stay disciplined. We studied important topics in school and because there is a set timetable, there was no time to waste. I and Aarush studied more in school than we could have studied by staying at home, so dummy school was not an option for us,” he said adding that as their coaching centre was near the school which further helped.
“We used to walk to our coaching class after school and follow their timetable for the rest of the evening. We used to reach home around 7:30-8 pm, after which we used to have dinner and then study again till 12 or 1 am. Having a regular school helped us stay on track and be aware about the happenings of the world,” Aarav said.
While Aarush did have a mobile phone, Aarav decided to sacrifice his phone privileges in class 9. “I decided a few years back that I will have to give up some indulgences such as a mobile phone because I didn’t need it and it could have become a distraction from my JEE Advanced goal. Aarush has a phone and he is signed up on LinkedIn only but that is mainly to stay in contact with our seniors who have moved abroad.”
