The Tripura Directorate of Higher Education cancelled summer vacations scheduled to begin from Friday in all state-run general degree colleges, professional colleges, and technical institutes. The decision was taken in ordered to conduct semester examinations, admission processes, and regular classes.
“In the interest of the students, Summer Vacation for the General Degree Colleges/ Professional Colleges /Technical Institutes under the control of the Higher Education Department, Tripura scheduled from 9th May, 2025 to 3rd June, 2025 for 26 (twenty six) days is hereby withdrawn,” reads a notice issued by Animesh Debbarma, the director of the department.

The Delhi Directorate of Education has notified that all schools that come under the government of National Capital Territory of Delhi will have summer vacations from May 11 to June 30.
According to an old notice, dated April 4 from this year, the department had notified earlier the summer vacation dates, and that June 28 to 30 will be working days for teachers.
All schools in the border district of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan will remain closed until further notice, said Collector Pratap Singh Nathawat.
The decision comes in the wake of growing tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, which was conducted by the Indian Armed Forces on Wednesday in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
Aside from Jaisalmer, all government and private schools have been closed in Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Barmer districts as a precautionary measure, officials said on Thursday.
High alert sounded in the border districts of western Rajasthan, a blackout was instituted in these areas from midnight to Friday 4 am due to possible threat of air strikes.
In the early hours of Friday, India thwarted a Pakistani drone and missile barrage targeting 15 military bases and several cities. In Jaisalmer, authorities extended the blackout in Jaisalmer till 6 am, according to news agency PTI.
The Tripura Directorate of Higher Education cancelled summer vacations scheduled to begin from Friday in all state-run general degree colleges, professional colleges, and technical institutes. The decision was taken in ordered to conduct semester examinations, admission processes, and regular classes.
“In the interest of the students, Summer Vacation for the General Degree Colleges/ Professional Colleges /Technical Institutes under the control of the Higher Education Department, Tripura scheduled from 9th May, 2025 to 3rd June, 2025 for 26 (twenty six) days is hereby withdrawn,” reads a notice issued by Animesh Debbarma, the director of the department.
The faculty members will be given 26 days of earned leave in lieu of the cancellation of the summer vacation.
Several private schools in Kolkata and other parts of West Bengal have decided to prepone their summer vacation and shut down from May 9 following an urgent appeal by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“Our plan was to close for the summer from next week, but we are complying with the Chief Minister’s request,” said Sunita Sen, Principal of Ballygunge Siksha Sadan.
“We are also closing from May 9 and will reopen on June 9. It is important to follow the government’s appeal in times like these,” said Joyoti Chaudhuri, principal of Delhi Public School Ruby Park.
“We were supposed to begin our vacation from May 14, but following the CM’s advisory, we decided to prepone it,” said Lipika Ghosh, principal of St. Xavier’s Institution, Panihati.
The decision comes amid escalating Indo-Pak tensions following India’s missile strikes on Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor. The education fraternity has largely welcomed the move, viewing it as a proactive step to prioritise student safety.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains notified on X that all schools, colleges and universities across the state will remain closed for three days.
"In view of the evolving situation, it is hereby ordered that all Schools, Colleges, and Universities — Government, Private, and Aided — across entire Punjab shall remain completely closed for the next three days," the minister wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The Delhi Directorate of Education has postponed the elections for the reconstitution of School Management Committees (SMC) in government schools scheduled on May 9 to ensure a more inclusive election, news agency PTI said.
In a notification, the Directorate said the decision was taken in view of several requests received from stakeholders who sought more time for submission of nominations.
The notification also highlighted participation in the election could have been impacted due to the absence of parents and children owing to the summer vacations beginning on May 10.
"A relatively low number of applications have been received from social workers and parents or guardians of students," the notice stated.
The department has decided to defer the election and a new schedule will be announced once schools reopen after the summer break, it added.
Those who have already submitted their applications for inclusion in the SMCs will not be required to apply again.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued an alert regarding a fabricated public notice circulated on social media in the name of the body, claiming that "all exams are cancelled due to a war situation" and asking students to return home.
