JEE Main Admit Card 2024 (OUT) Updates: Paper 1 hall ticket released; check Jan 24 analysis

The Aptitude section of BArch exam was rated easy to moderate. Questions were mostly based on 3-Dimensional Figures, architecture aptitude, monumental details, with some logic based questions.

The drawing section was reported as easy by students. One question involved copying a picture from screen as per own perception in black & white. The second question involved two options out of which one was to be attempted. : 1. View of a Football Stadium as a spectator 2. Abstract Art using a musical instrument in 3D and naming the texture and shadow effect.

The Mathematics exam was rated easy to moderate. Few students reported that the numerical based section had few lengthy questions involving calculations.

Questions were asked from almost all chapters like Quadratic Equations, Progression & Series, Inverse Trigonometric Equations, Binomial Theorem, Complex Numbers, Probability, Permutation & Combination, Matrices, Determinants, 3D Geometry, Vectors, Limits & Continuity, Definite Integrals, Differential Equations.Less weightage given to Co-ordinate Geometry with question asked from Straight Lines. Few questions in MCQs were reported lengthy but easy.

Part 1 - Mathematics had total 30*questions. Section 1 had 20 MCQs with single correct answers and section 2 had 10 numerical based questions out which only 5 had to be attempted. Marking scheme for both multiple choice questions and numerical based questions was +4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 if not attempted.

Some students and experts have claimed that the JEE Main 2024, session 1, paper 2 exam started a bit late due to technical glitches. However, extra time was given to students.

The admit cards for paper 1 (BTech and BE papers) were released in the late hours of January 24. The candidates scheduled to appear on 27 January 2024 are required to download their Admit Card of JEE (Main) – 2024 Session 1 (January 2024) (using their Application No. and Date of Birth) for Paper 1 from the website -- jeemain.nta.ac.in

While JEE Main paper-1 has only two types of questions — MCQs with single correct answers and numerical answer types. However,  JEE Advanced consists of a mixture of various types of questions. There are MCQs with either a single correct answer or multiple correct answers. There could be comprehensions followed by two or more objective type questions with single or multi correct answers. There may be matrix match type questions which involve matching two columns or even three columns. The Integer type questions involve a subjective type of question with the answer an integer or could be asked correctly to two decimal places.

Students who will appear for their Class 12 board exams should also utilise the gaps between the board exams for mock tests. Test analysis after every mock test is important to improve preparation before the actual exam. The time from April i.e. after the second session of JEE Main, till the day of JEE Advanced could be devoted only to JEE Advanced by taking mock tests followed by rigorous test analysis. 

In other news, the increase in academic pressure on students, loss for coaching centres, and a threat of job loss for several teachers — these are some concerns raised by coaching institutions across Delhi-NCR on the recent guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education that suggest that such centres cannot enroll students below 16 years.

In case of any discrepancy in the particulars of the candidate or his/her photograph and signature shown in the JEE Mainn 2024 e-admit card and confirmation page, the candidate may immediately approach the NTA help line from 10 am to 5 pm. In such a case, the candidate would appear in the examination with the already downloaded JEE Main 2024 admit card. However, NTA will take necessary action to make corrections in the record later.

NTA will release the JEE Main answer key for Session 1 after 4-5 days of the conclusion of the exams. JEE Main result 2024 will be declared on February 12, 2024. With the release of the JEE Main 2024 result, candidates will be notified of the JEE Main score and percentile. 

The JEE Main 2024 paper 2 for BArch and BPlanning begins at 3 pm. The BArch and BPlanning paper will get over at 6 pm. Those taking both papers together will have their paper ended at 6:30 pm.

Conversion of the raw score in mathematics, aptitude test, drawing test/ planning-based test, and total into NTA scores. The overall merit shall be prepared by merging the NTA Scores of both shifts on all days. 

1. Admit card along with a JEE Main self-declaration (undertaking) downloaded from the NTA official website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) duly filled in.
2. A simple transparent ball point pen
3. Additional photograph, to be pasted on the attendance sheet
4. Personal transparent water bottle
5. Sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) in case the candidate is diabetic

All calculations and writing work will have to be done only in the rough sheet provided at the centre in the JEE Main 2024 exam hall and on completion of the test candidates must hand over the rough sheets to the invigilator on duty in the exam centre.

Question: What language will be considered for the correctness of a question?

Answer: For the correctness of the translation for a particular language, only the English version will be considered as the final version for evaluation purposes, an NTA statement on the jeemain.nta.ac.in said.

Question: Will I have to submit the exam? Where do I check time?

Answer: The clock will be set on the server. The countdown timer in the top right corner of the screen will display the remaining time available for you to complete the examination. When the timer reaches zero, the examination will end by itself. You
will not be required to end or submit your examination.

Blank paper sheets for rough work of A4 size will be provided in the examination centre. Candidates must write their name and roll number at the top of each of the sheets and must drop the sheet/s in the designated drop box without fail, before leaving the exam hall. Failure to do so may result in a non-evaluation of your answers. 

The JEE Main exam analysis for paper 2A (BArch) and paper 2B (BPlanning) will be made available to the candidates after the paper ends today. Unofficial answer keys will also be released by experts in the field after the JEE Main 2024 exam is over.

The BArch and BPlanning paper will be held from 3 pm today. While the single paper of BArch or BPlanning will be held from 3 to 6 pm, students taking both the papers together will appear from 3 pm to 6:30 pm.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has not yet released the paper 1 admit cards. The JEE Main paper 1 exams are set to start on January 27.

The filled-in JEE Main 2024 admit card must be dropped in the designated drop box while leaving the JEE Main exam hall. “Failures to do so may result in a non-evaluation of your answers,” NTA said.

This time, candidates appearing for JEE Main 2024 will have to undergo frisking and biometric attendance after toilet breaks as well.

The JEE Main paper 1 admit card will likely be released today for the January 27 exam. The NTA official website -- jeemain.nta.ac.in, will host the JEE Main 2024 admit card link.

Diabetic students will be allowed to carry eatables like sugar tablets and fruits like bananas, apples and oranges and transparent water bottles. However, they will not be allowed to carry packed foods like chocolates, candy, sandwiches, etc.

The candidates were earlier advised to register through DigiLocker/ABC ID. Those candidates who did not register through the DigiLocker / ABC ID or had chosen authentication through non-Aadhaar options will be required to report early on the JEE Main 2024 exam day. Candidates will have to reach the JEE Main 2024 exam centre at least one hour earlier to get their biometrics recorded.

Candidates will have to reach the exam centre before the gate closing time. Candidates reaching beyond the gate closing time at the JEE Main exam centre will not be allowed to enter the test venue. 

The candidates were earlier advised to register through DigiLocker/ABC ID. Those candidates who did not register through the DigiLocker / ABC ID or had chosen authentication through non-Aadhaar options will be required to report early on the JEE Main 2024 exam day. Candidates will have to reach the JEE Main 2024 exam centre at least one hour earlier to get their biometrics recorded.

The exam duration for paper 1 (BE/ BTech), paper 2A (BArch) or paper 2B (BPlanning) is three hours. And for both the papers together (BArch and BPlanning), it is three hours and 30 minutes. The JEE Main paper 2 exam will be held in the second shift today, from 3 pm. 

For the drawing paper of paper 2 JEE Main, the candidates will have to bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons. The candidates are not allowed to use watercolours on the drawing sheet. 

Drawing Test in JEE Main BArch paper will be held in pen and paper offline mode and will have to be attempted on a drawing sheet of A4 size. The drawing test will be held to test the drawing aptitude of the candidate and will be held for 100 marks.

Items including instrument or geometry, pencil box, handbag, purse, any kind of paper, stationery, textual material, eatables and water, mobile phone, ear phone, microphone, pager, calculator, docupen, slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder and metallic item or electronic gadgets, devices will not be allowed inside the JEE Main exam centre.

IIT aspirants will have to start preparing for JEE Advanced from now onwards, while they are preparing for Class 12 exams and JEE Main. They should continue their preparation with a full proof timetable devoting equal time slots for each subject. After qualifying JEE Main, candidates can appear for JEE Advanced. It used to be the sole prerequisite for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology bachelor’s programmes and is usually hosted by one of the IITs. Check the key differences between JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

Candidates will be provided with choices in one section of each subject of paper 1 and part-1 of paper 2A and 2B to cater to the decision of different boards across the country regarding the reduction of the syllabus. However, the total number of questions to be
attempted will remain the same (physics – 25, chemistry – 25, and mathematics – 25).

The JEE Main 2024 January session exam will start will the BArch and BPlanning paper on the first day of exam on January 24. The BE and BTech papers will be held on January 27, 29, 30, 31 and February 1.

Following points should be kept in mind while revising a few days before the exam:

— Remain focused and maintain a positive attitude while studying.

— Develop speed by solving quizzes/Mock Tests of JEE-level problems with time management.

— Speed and accuracy will be your key to success.

— Take mock test series preferably in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode to build a winning exam temperament. Try taking them in the same timings as per your schedule. Keep a check on your mistakes and try overcoming then in every test you take.

— Sample papers will give you a fair idea about the pattern of questions and help you improve time management.

— Solve the previous years’ JEE Main/Advanced papers for understanding the level of questions asked.

— Focus on your weaker areas and improve your concepts.

Students of Delhi government schools can now prepare for JEE, NEET UG and CUET UG through this platform.

“The Delhi Model Virtual School, under the Arvind Kejriwal Govt, realises our vision of providing quality education to every child, even beyond the last mile. JEE Main 2024 applicants will not be allowed to carry instrument or geometry, pencil box, handbag, purse, any kind of paper/ stationery/ textual material (printed or written material), eatables and water (loose or packed), mobile phone/ ear phone/ microphone/ pager, calculator, docupen, slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder, to wear/carry any type of watch including electronic watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/ devices in the JEE Main examination hall.

There may not be any provision for safe keeping of valuables at the centre, NTA added.

For the Drawing Test—Part III of BArch, the candidate will have to bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons. The candidates are not allowed to use watercolours on drawing sheet.

• Candidates with physical disability taking the JEE Main 2024 session 1 exams tomorrow will have to report early for facilitation during entry.
• PwD candidate (having a physical limitation to write) who will be availing the facility of scribe will be allowed compensatory/ extra time of 20 minutes per hour of the examination, whether such candidate uses the facility of scribe or not.
• The facility of the scribe, in case he/she has a physical limitation and a scribe is essential to write the examination on his/her behalf, being so certified in the prescribed format by a CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care Institution.
• The facility of scribe will be provided to the PwD candidates only if he has opted for the same in the online Application Form of JEE Main 2023
• The candidate will have the discretion of opting for his own Scribe or to avail the facility of scribe provided by the NTA

In addition to the JEE Main 2024 admit card, candidates will also have to carry a photo identity card. PAN cards, driving license, voter ID, passport, aadhaar card with photograph, e- aadhaar, ration card  or the 12th Class admit card will be considered valid identity proofs.

• JEE Main admit card downloaded from the NTA website. The JEE Main hall ticket should be clear, preferably colour printout on A4 size paper.
• One passport size photograph same as the one uploaded in the JEE Main online application form will have to be pasted on the attendance sheet at the centre.
• A valid photo ID proof in original

NTA issued a list of guidelines to the JEE Main aspirants. The candidates have been asked to check the following at the JEE Main 2024 admit card. Candidates reaching the exam centre after the gate closing will not be allowed entry.

• Reporting time at centre
• Gate closing time of centre
• Date of examination
• Shift and timings of test
• Venue of test

The question(s) “Answered and Marked for Review” status for a question indicates that the candidates would like to have a relook at that question again. A candidate has the option of answering a question and simultaneously “Marked for Review”, these answers will be considered for evaluation. However, if a candidate has simply put “Marked for Review” for a question without answering it, the corresponding question marked for review without an answer will not be considered for evaluation. It may be noted that a candidate can return to any “Marked for Review” question at any time during the examination by clicking on the corresponding question number icon displayed on the Question Palette of the corresponding section. 

Candidates are asked to check the JEE Main 2024 admit card for the reporting time. The candidates were earlier advised to register through DigiLocker/ABC ID. Those candidates who did not register through the DigiLocker / ABC ID (or chose authentication through non-Aadhaar options) will be required to report early on the JEE Main 2024 exam day. Candidates will have to reach the JEE Main 2024 exam centre atleast one hour earlier to get their biometrics recorded.

The tie between candidates obtaining equal Total NTA scores in Paper 2A: BArch will be resolved in the following manner:
1. NTA score in Mathematics, followed by
2. NTA score in Aptitude Test, followed by
3. NTA score in Drawing Test, followed by
4. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the test, followed by
5. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Mathematics (Part-I)
in the Test, followed by
6. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Aptitude Test (Part-II) in the Test followed by
7. Older in Age followed by
8. Application Number in ascending order

The city of the examination and the date of the examination have already been intimated to all the candidates of JEE Main 2024.

NTA is unlikely to release the JEE Main BTech admit cards today. The BTech JEE Main 2024 exam will be held from January 27.
