NEET UG 2024 Exam Updates: Paper level moderate to difficult, exam analysis here

NTA NEET Exam 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5 conducted the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test Undergraduate 2024 (NEET UG 2024). The exam started at 2 pm and concluded at 5:2 pm. After the exam, several posts on social media claimed that the question paper was leaked, but NTA has rubbished all such allegations.

While many experts will release the unofficial answer keys immediately after the exam concludes, NTA will release the official answer keys after a few days. Once released, the answer keys will be available at the official website — exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/

NEET UG 2024 is being held in 557 cities across the country and 14 cities abroad in multiple exam centres. NEET UG is being taken by more than 24 lakh medical aspirants this year for around one lakh MBBS seats.

NEET UG Exam 2024: Biology paper analysis

Biology was the easy to moderate exam, and most of the questions were asked from NCERT curriculum only, Viijay said while analysing the paper.

Biology had the highest weightage and consisted mostly of questions directly from or based on NCERT textbooks. The questions spanned both Botany and Zoology, with an emphasis on Human Physiology, Genetics, and Plant Physiology. Unlike previous years, this year's question papers featured 6 figure-based and three direction-based questions, along with 30 'match the following' and 17 statement-based questions. As 30% of the questions were of the 'match the following' type, some students found the paper a bit lengthy, the CEO of MTG Learning Media said.

NEET UG Exam 2024: How was the chemistry paper

Accoring to MTG Learning Media, the Chemistry section was a balanced mix of physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry. The questions ranged from straightforward factual questions based on direct concepts from the NCERT textbooks to more application-based questions. The highest weightage was given to 'Organic Chemistry: Some Basic Principles and Techniques. Out of 50 questions, 9 were numerical-based, 7 involved matching the following, and 5 were statement-based.

The chemistry paper was easier than last year's NEET exam. Physical chemistry was the toughest, followed by organic and inorganic chemistry, and questions from thermodynamics, kinetics, and periodic table were included in the exam, Motion Education said.

NEET Exam 2024 Live: NEET Paper leaked? What NTA has to say?

“Where the instances of ‘paper leak’ are being claimed are completely false and it is being done just to sensationalise news. In an isolated incident at Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Mantown, Sawai Madhopur, students were given English medium question paper by mistake and by the time the invigilator was correcting the mistake, students forcefully walked out of the exam hall with the question paper.

As per the rules students are only allowed to exit the hall with the question paper after the exam, but some students walked out forcefully. Due to this, the question paper was circulated on the internet around 4 pm, but by that time the exam had already started at all other stations across the country. So, there has not been any ‘leak’ of NEET UG question paper,” a senior NTA official told indianexpress.com.

NEET UG Exam 2024: Subject-wise analysis

As the NEET 2024 exam concludes today, the overall difficulty level of the exam was easy to moderate. While physics and Chemistry were a bit lengthy and easy to moderate compared to last year's NEET exam, Biology was also moderate.

* Physics was easy to moderate but a bit lengthy. There were more questions from NCERT, especially class 11. Apart from this, there were questions about Thermodynamics and optics.

* The chemistry paper was easier than last year's NEET exam. Physical chemistry was the toughest, followed by organic and inorganic chemistry, and questions from thermodynamics, kinetics, and periodic table were included in the exam.

* Biology was the easy to moderate exam, and most of the questions were asked from NCERT curriculum only.

NEET UG 2024 Exam Live: More than 24,600 students appear in Maharashtra's Latur

A total of 24,612 medical aspirants took the NEET in Maharashtra's Latur district, its coordinator Giridhar Reddy said. He told PTI 24,882 students had registered but 270 did not turn up. There were 54 centres in the district, comprising 46 in Latur tehsil, three each in Udgir and Nilanga and two in Ahmedpur," he said.

According to officials, 2,81,872 students had registered for NEET UG in Maharashtra.

NEET Exam 2024 Live: MBBS student appears as proxy candidate in NEET, detained with 5 others

An MBBS student who appeared in place of a NEET aspirant in the medical entrance exam on Sunday was detained along with five others, including the candidate, in Rajasthan's Bharatpur, police said. Preliminary investigation revealed that Abhishek Gupta, a government college student, was part of a racket being run by his collegemate Ravi Meena, who had allegedly taken Rs 10 lakh from candidate Rahul Gurjar, reported news agency, PTI.

NEET UG Exam Live Updates: MBBS student appears as proxy candidate in NEET, detained with 5 others

An MBBS student who appeared in place of a NEET UG aspirant in NEET UG 2024 on Sunday was detained along with five others, including the candidate, in Rajasthan's Bharatpur, police said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Abhishek Gupta, a government college student, was part of a racket being run by his collegemate Ravi Meena, who had allegedly taken Rs 10 lakh from candidate Rahul Gurjar, they said.

"At an examination centre, Abhishek was found impersonating Rahul Gurjar. On suspicion, the invigilator handed him over to the police. During initial interrogation, he told police that he was accompanied by five others," Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Aklesh Kumar said.

He said that his associates were sitting in a car outside the examination centre, Master Adityendra School under the Mathura Gate police station area. All the accused are being interrogated and further action will be taken in due course, the ASP said.

Besides Gupta, Meena and Gurjar, those detained were identified as Amit, Dayaram and Suraj Singh, according to police.

NEET Exam 2024 Live: Paper pattern

The paper will have four sections-- Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany. Each section will be further divided into two parts-- A and B. Part A will have 35 questions, all of which need to be answered. Part B will have 15 questions out of which 10 need to be answered. Section A will be for 140 marks, section B will be for 40 marks. The maximum marks for the paper is 720.

NEET UG 2024 candidates are instructed to follow the following dress code while appearing for the medical entrance test

– Heavy clothes and long sleeves are not permitted

– Shoes are not permitted. Slippers and sandals with low heels are permitted

NEET Exam 2024 Live: New website, revised application fee to tie-breaking policy — list of changes introduced this year

1. Updated official website: Candidates can now access all pertinent exam information at neet.ntaonline.in, the official website for NEET information.1. 2. Revised application fees: A revision has been made to the application fee structure. The general category registration cost has been raised to Rs 1,700. Previously, candidates who weren’t from India had to pay Rs 9,500. The new cost is Rs 1,600 for applicants in the EWS/OBC-NCL categories and Rs 1,000 for those in the SC/ST/PwD categories.

3. Revision of tie-breaking policy: The rule about tying has been updated. When deciding who gets the highest grade among candidates, the age and NEET UG application number are no longer taken into account. Priority is awarded according to scores got in biology, chemistry, and physics, in that order. If necessary, the ratio of right to wrong answers is then considered both between disciplines and within specific courses.
