NEET UG 2023: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon declare results for the national medical and dental entrance exam, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2023. The exam was conducted in 4,097 centres across 499 cities in India and abroad. The results will be available at the official website — neet.nta.nic.in.
The provisional answer key was released on June 4 and candidates were allowed to raise objections till 11:50 pm of June 6. To raise the challenges to the answer key, students had to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs 200 per question.
The Ministry of Education recently released the list of best medical, dental and pharmacy colleges in India in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023. As per the list,
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi ranked first amongst all MBBS/medical colleges in India. AIIMS Delhi also ranked sixth amongst all colleges in the overall category.
Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh came second, followed by Christian Medical College, Vellore. National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore, Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPGMER), Puducherry secured fourth and fifth rank among medical colleges.
Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai came first among dental colleges, followed by Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal and Dr DY Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune came at second and third places respectively.
National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hyderabad bagged the first spot in the best pharmacy colleges list followed by Jamia Hamdard, Delhi at second place and Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani at the third place.
The cut-off for all the colleges will be released once the NEET UG 2023 results are declared.
As per Saurabh Kumar, Chief Academic Officer, Vidyamandir Classes, the cut off for general category will be around 710 to 124, for OBC it would be 130 to 98, for SC it would be 120 to 95 and for ST it would be around 118-92.
According to Sarvesh Chaubey, Deputy Regional Director at Aakash BUJU’s, the general category cut off would be somewhere around 716 to 120, for OBC, SC and ST categories it will be around 119 to 95.
In 2022, the NEET cut-off marks for general category was 715 to 117 marks, for SC, ST and OBC categories it was 116 to 93 marks, for general-PwD it was 116 to 105 and SC, ST and OBC under PwD it was 104 to 93.
As per the NTA, the lower age limit is 17 years at the time of giving the exam. However, there is no upper age limit to appear for the exam. There is no restriction on the number of attempts as well.

The NEET UG 2023 exam was conducted on May 7 all across the country except Manipur due to the ongoing law and order situation. In Manipur, the exam was conducted on June 6. Apart from Manipur, the exam was re-conducted in 10 other cities on June 6 as students from Manipur were given an option to change their exam city and those 10 cities were the options present.
In the exam conducted on May 7, NTA recorded 97.7 per cent attendance. A total of 20,87,449 candidates registered for the exam. And in Manipur, approximately 8,700 candidates appeared for the exam.
Once results are declared, the NTA’s role is over. The students then have to undergo counselling and they are assigned seats various quotas— All India Quota seats, State Government Quota seats, Central Institutions/Universities/Deemed Universities, State/Management/NRI Quota Seats in Private Medical / Dental Colleges or any Private University, Central Pool Quota seats, all seats including NRI Quota as well as Management Quota, are in private unaided/aided minority / non-minority medical colleges, AIIMS institutes across India/ JIPMER.
Counselling for successful candidates for seats is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee/ Directorate General of Health Services for undergraduate medical / dental courses. MCC only does the registration for AFMC and forwards the data of registered Candidates to AFMC authorities for the admission process. DU/BHU and other Universities may use the score for any other relevant courses being offered by them.
