NEET PG 2024 Admit Card Updates: NEET PG hall ticket out, exam on August 11

The NEET PG test — the qualifying examination for PG medical studies — will be held at 500 “trusted” centres this year, according to people in the know of the matter.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor urged Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Thursday to authorise enough exam centres in every state for the NEET-PG 2024 on August 11 so that students do not have to travel thousands of kilometers and will be able to avoid the hassle of arranging affordable and safe accommodation.
In a letter to Nadda that Tharoor posted on X, the Congress leader also drew the minister's attention to reports that the number of cities in which the tests are to be conducted has been reduced significantly.
He said since the late evening of August 4, he has been deluged with representations from innumerable NEET-PG aspirants, adding, "I am convinced that there is, indeed, a major problem." It appears that aspirants are still being constrained to travel faraway distances, in some cases, even spanning thousands of kilometres, Tharoor said.
"The current weather, which has spawned vicious vagaries of nature across India, challenges of ticket availability, shortage of affordable accommodation and concerns of safety place these doctors in an untenable position. If we are to have national exams, we ought to be able to authorise enough centres in every state, especially given the manageable number of aspirants, allowing candidates to take the exam from centres easily accessible from their places of education or residence," he added.
The member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala also said there are serious concerns about the announced two-shift examination, with two different papers in two shifts and the so-called normalisation or standardisation of results.
"The whole idea of a national examination is vitiated unless it is one test on one date everywhere across India. Exacerbating all of this are the reports that the number of cities, where the tests are to be conducted, has been reduced significantly," he said in the letter.
"In light of the foregoing, I will be grateful if your office could look into these issues and resolve them at your earliest convenience. For if the NEET-PG 2024 is allowed to go through as it is, it will severely imperil the future of our doctors," he said.

Candidates are required to report at the ‘Reporting Counter’ of test venue at as per time indicated in their admit cards. To avoid crowding at the test venue entry, there will be staggered time slots for candidates to report. The reporting counter will close 30 minutes prior to the test start time. This will allow time for security checks, identity verification and checking in for examination.

There shall be 25% negative marking for incorrect answers. For every correct answer, students will be marked + 4 marks and for wrong answers, one mark will be deducted.

The exam will be held in computer based mode. The question paper will comprise of 200 multiple choice questions with each question having four response options or distractors in English language only. Candidates are required to select the correct/ best/ most appropriate response/ answer out of the four response options provided in each question. Time allotted is three hours 30 minutes.

The NEET PG 2024 syllabus will comprise of subject or knowledge area as per Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by the erstwhile Medical Council of India with prior approval of the government of India. 

The reporting time is 90 minutes before the start of NEET PG exam.

The NEET PG admit card contains two pages and they must be printed in colour on a single A4 sized white paper on both sides.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 admit cards are released for the August 11 exam.

The NEET PG admit card link will be made active at the official website. Candidates will have to login at the portal to download the admit card.

The Supreme Court on August 9 will hear pleas to postpone the exam. Advocate Anas Tanwir mentioned the petition before Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud this morning seeking an urgent hearing. In response, CJI said that the matter will be heard tomorrow. The petitioners stated that many candidates appearing in the exam have been allocated cities that are highly inconvenient for them to reach.

The following Medical institutions are not covered by centralised admissions for MD/MS seats through NEET- PG for 2024-25 session:
1. AIIMS, New Delhi and other AIIMS
2. PGIMER, Chandigarh
3. JIPMER, Puducherry
4. NIMHANS, Bengaluru
5. Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum

NEET PG is held for admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses for the academic session 2024-25 which will include the following

1. All India 50% quota seats for all States/Union territories of India.
2. State quota seats for all States/Union territories of India.
3. All Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Universities/ Deemed Universities all across the country
4. Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.
5. Post MBBS DNB Courses, Direct 6 years DrNB Courses and Post MBBS NBEMS Diploma Courses

The cut-off date for completion of the internship towards eligibility for NEET PG 2024 is August 15, 2024.

The exam will be held in two shifts in a mandatory section format, meaning candidates will be provided equal time for each section across the country. NEET PG is held to admit medical graduates into 52,000 postgraduation seats available in India.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has denied any claims of the NEET PG paper leak and has warned candidates against falling for fraudsters promising access to the upcoming NEET PG 2024 questions for a large sum of money. The board has registered a police complaint and urged candidates to report any suspicious activity to their communication web portal or local police.

NBEMS denies such false claims made by a Telegram channel titled “NEET-PG Leaked Material” and cautions applicants for NEET PG 2024 to not get allured/misled by such unscrupulous elements who are trying to befool them by claiming to have access to questions of upcoming NEET PG 2024.

Steps to download the admit card, candidates first need to visit the official website- natboard.edu.in., choose the NEET-PG tab given on the home page, click on the application link, and fill in your credentials, an e-admit card will be displayed on the screen. Candidates are advised to take out a printout of the admit card to carry it to the examination center.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has reduced the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) exam fees have been reduced for all candidates by Rs 750. Candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories will have to pay Rs 3,500 and candidates belonging to SC, ST and PWD will have to pay Rs 2,500

The decision to reduce the NEET PG application fee has been made to benefit the lakhs of candidates appearing for the examinations, a statement issued by NBEMS official said.

As per the official announcement, the change will be brought in all its MCQ-based examinations such as NEET PG, NEET MDS, NEET SS, FMGE, DNB PDCET, GPAT, DPEE, FDST and FET which are conducted on a computer-based platform.

Union health secretary Apurva Chandra told The Indian Express: “NEET PG is being postponed as a precautionary measure.” Importantly, the test is not conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), that was embroiled in the NEET-UG controversy.

"This decision was collectively taken by all stakeholders, and it has been done to improve the logistics. Conducting the exam in two shifts will result in better supervision, better arrangements and co-ordinations in different states and exam centres." said the NBEMS chief

"Through this, we are also able to ensure that students do not have travel too far for the exam centres. NBEMS’ priority has always been to ensure that students do not have to travel far for their exam centres, and this is a good point for us to keep reviewing. Now especially after the Radhakrishnan committee, we have to ensure that the students are issued exam centres in the same state as their address. We are mindful about this now." he said

"I would like to first clarify that there were no reports of a paper leak or any other kind of such issue. Centre wanted to check the robustness of the exam process, and we wanted to be sure that there is no vulnerability in this process." said NBEMS chief Dr Abhijat Sheth. 

"There were several NTA exams that were cancelled and postponed and there was an environment of vulnerability and tension in the country related to exams. There are some miscreants in our society who take advantage of the vulnerability of students in such tense situations and tell aspirants that they can help them pass the exam for a fixed amount of money. In such cases, they take half payment before the exam and then if the student passes, they claim it is because of them. If the student does not clear the exam, these miscreants run away with their half payment. We wanted to ensure that such a situation does not arise, and this is why the decision to postpone the exam was taken by the Ministry." he added. 

“If the exam will be conducted twice in a day and the question paper would stand out differently. This again puts a question mark over how the overall merit list will be prepared. I hope NBE clarifies these details soon,” said Dr Prashant Kumar Singh, a medical officer under the Government of Odisha.

“Medical education had become the den of a business. When I was health minister and was bringing NEET, one seat of post graduation was sold for Rs 8 crore each and if you had to opt for a discipline like radiology then it was Rs 12-13 crore,” Nadda said.

“After students raised their displeasure with exam city allotment, we decided to add more exam centres, and thus some students may have received revised city slips. This time, we have chucked out private exam centres to ensure safety, and as a result of this, some students may have to travel a bit far for their exam centres. Not every student can have a venue very close by, because even if we allot them a centre in the same state, students may have to travel 100-150 km. We have tried our best to shorten their distance,” NBE Chief Abhijat Sheth told indianexpress.com.

Applicant appearing for the exam must note, it is mandatory to bring a printout of the admit card affixed with their passport size. The passport size should be colourful with a white background and not exceed the box provided for passport size.

Candidates are requested to carefully check all the necessary information on the admit card, after download such as – candidates name, application number, date of birth, exam date, exam time, exam address, exam centre name, and category.

Health Minister J P Nadda on Friday defended the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), which is under the scanner over paper leak cases, saying medical education had become an open business before the NEET was introduced and PG seats were sold for Rs 8 crore-13 crore each.

The minister intervened during a discussion on a private member resolution moved by DMK Rajya Sabha member M Mohmed Abdulla on the NEET. The minister said corruption was rife in medical education before the NEET was brought in during his first stint as health minister.
