With only four months before the Class X board exams are conducted, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is yet to upload a sample of the new paper pattern on its website. The board had reintroduced internal assessment for Class X this year after facing flak for a dip in the overall pass percentage of students. This, in particular, has created confusion among students of private schools. Yuva Sena member Sainath Durge on Monday wrote to the Board’s chairman, Shakuntala Kale, stating the problem. While the question papers have been modified, the teachers have also been provided training. The new paper pattern should have been made available to private students by now, said the letter. The Board has already begun registrations for Class X SSC exams to be conducted in March next year. The lack of a sample question paper based on the new pattern has created confusion for teachers as well, as mock exams need to be conducted. The letter by Durge also asked Kale to make the Board’s position clear on whether there will be different provisions for those appearing through Form 17. Form 17 is required by private students who wish to appear for the SSC or HSC board exams.
