KCET Results 2023 Declared: Over 2 lakh candidates eligible for engineering, top 3 positions bagged by boys

KEA Karnataka CET Results 2023 Declared: The KCET results released on Thursday showed that over 2.03 lakh students are eligible for engineering. However, with higher registration of Biology students, the candidates eligible for B Pharma and Pharma D courses have outnumbered the engineering candidates. A total of 2,06,191 students are eligible for B Pharma and 2,06,340 students are eligible for Pharma D courses.

Interestingly, the KCET result also revealed that Yadgir which is the most backward region in Karnataka has outperformed Bengaluru by securing 88 per cent pass percentage in Engineering. Bengaluru’s pass percentage in engineering stood at 83 per cent.

Karnataka higher education minister MC Sudhakar who announced the KCET results stated that a total of 2,61,610 candidates had applied out of which 2,44,345 candidates appeared for the test. The Common Entrance Test-2023 was held on May 20 and 21 in 592 exam centres across the state. A total of 43,316 students appeared for only PCM, 3,917 for only PCB and 1,96,112 for both PCM and PCB.

The assessment of performance was done based on the revised answer key (prepared by subject experts) hosted on the KEA website.

After the generation of the merit list for different courses, 2,03,381 for engineering and technology courses, 1,64,187 candidates for BSc (Agri) (Farm Science,) 1,66,756 candidates for Veterinary, 1,66,746 candidates for Naturopathy and Yoga and 2,06,191 are eligible for BPharma and 2,06,340 Pharm-D courses based on their merit. Based on the guidelines of INC and directions of the government, CET was conducted for BSc (Nursing) also, and a total of 1,66,808 candidates have got the eligibility.

In engineering, Vignesh Nataraj Kumar from Bengaluru topped CET with 97.8 per cent, followed by Arjun Krishnaswamy (97.5 per cent), Bengaluru and Samrudh Shetty, (97.1 per cent), Dharwad.

This year, no candidate scored 60 in physics and chemistry in CET. However, four students in Maths and 138 students in Biology scored 60.

Although the seat the matrix is still not decided, KEA director S Ramya stayed that around 53,000 seats are reserved for engineering for CET candidates.

The results also come at a time when the private colleges have hiked the admission fees for government seats by 10%, for engineering courses. The minister however did not disclose the revised admission fees after the hike. “The hike came into effect during the previous government’s rule. Since the negotiations for the same was done as per formalities, it won’t be appropriate for us to do anything about it right now,” said Sudhakar.

Meanwhile, the KEA from Friday will begin the awareness programme for eligible CET candidates on the document verification process and other formalities for admission. The counselling session meanwhile is expected to begin in a week’s time.

To facilitate candidates who have passed 12th standard from CBSE, CISCE, 10+2, IGCSE, other boards and candidates who have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th standard before 2023, the KEA has provided the last opportunity. They need to enter their marks before 5.00 pm on June 17 by using the KEA link https://cetonline.Karnataka.gov.in/marksentry2023/forms/login.aspx and enter marks scored in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology and English subjects.
