The IIT placement season will start in December. While we may think that the process is yet to begin, the procedure for the placements started back in July 2024. For students who are planning to join an IIT in the next few years, here’s a quick guide to how the process takes place:
When does the placement process begin?
While the placement season begins on December 1, the process starts back in July. IITs start company onboarding from July onwards, which is followed by student registration in the second week of July. While this process is taking place, students are given the deadline of August third week to submit their resumes.
Following this, the Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) begins in September’s first week. Any recruiter interested in delivering a Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) may send the request to the placement-in-charge along with the relevant details. In some IITs, such as IIT Kanpur, attending a Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) given by a company is mandatory for students who have applied for a job opening in that particular company.
While companies visit IIT campuses for PPTs, mid-September is usually the deadline for the release of Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs). The tests also begin in the last week of September, which are followed by the final stage — interviews — from December 1.
