Established in 2006, the International Institute of Information Technology Bhubaneswar (IIIT-B), this year under the engineering category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) achieved a rank band between 201-300. Located in the capital of Odisha, IIIT-Bhubaneswar could not secure a rank under NIRF 2023, however, in the year 2022, it secured a place under the engineering category within a rank band between 201-250.
In the year 2021, in the NIRF rankings, the Instituted secured 190 place. Analysing the trend since 2021, it is evident that IIIT Bhubaneswar has deteriorated its positioning under the Ministry of Education’s rankings. Again in 2020, the Institute came within a rank band of 201-250.

Observing the placement records of the Institute for three years, in the year 2020-21 the Institute admitted 300 students where 260 students got placed under a four-year undergraduate course. The median salary for the students stands at Rs 10 lakh, which has remained the highest for the course when compared to the 2018-2020 report of the Institute.
On the other hand, for the postgraduation programme, the highest median pay of a candidate for the course is Rs 7 lakh, which was also the same in the year 2021-22. The Institute was converted into a unitary university by the Government of Odisha on January 20, 2014.
Some of the companies that were part of the placement drives for BTech students in the year 2024 are Zscaler, Informatica, Oracle, Veritas, Infosys – Specialist Programmer, Human Potential Development Science LLC (HPDS), Dell, Motive, Tiger Analytics, BigBinary, Turing among others.
