Mumbai's Kirti Makhija is all set to appear for her Chartered Accountancy (CA) foundation exams, the first stepping stone of her entrepreneurial dream. The 17-year-old secured 99.25 per cent in the ISC 2023 results declared on Sunday. She ranks second in the merit list with Tanisha Joshi of Pune. Unlike other students of her age, Makhija has set a clear plan for her academic aspirations. “I want to pursue Chartered Accountancy alongside regular college to gain both academic and social skills which are major requirements for any entrepreneur. After completing graduation, I will prepare for CAT to pursue MBA,” the topper shared. Apart from CA, she is also preparing for Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET-UG) 2023 and has her eyes set on SRCC. “Delhi University is my preferred choice for pursuing a BCom degree given its ranking in Indian and international rankings. I want to join SRCC or Lady Shriram College for Women. If not, then I will opt for Mumbai University,” she said. Coming from the family of bankers, Makhija was inclined toward commerce and accounting. Her mother Divya Makhija works with the State Bank of India while her father Naresh Makhija works with Axis Bank. “My parents are my inspiration but I have also seen them working hard in the service industry. I want to be an employer and not an employee. Therefore, after much research I drafted a career plan for myself,” she shared. While celebrations are in progress at her home and at her school Sulochana Devi Singhania School in Thane, the topper is only focused on her upcoming CUET and CA exams. “Once I get over with all the exams, I will celebrate my board results success,” Makhija said.
