IIT-Madras invites students to access AI English learning platform to improve communication skills

To access the platform, students will have to fill in a Google doc form expressing their interest, which will help the Librarian to create an ID for the interested students.

IIT Madras is now providing an online AI-based English learning platform for its students, which will help students improve their communication skills.

IIT Madras‘ central library has subscribed to the online AI-based comprehensive English learning platform Lanquill, which is an online language lab. Through this, students can access more than 500 hours of learning with self-paced guides and multi-media content, which will help them improve their understanding of English grammar through their mother language.

“Communication in English is important for all, be it technical paper writing, quizzes, semester exams, internship interviews, project reports, placement interviews and general interaction with peers. The AI-inspired LANQUILL tool is suitable for all levels of learners. It helps students to express ideas clearly in an academic and professional format. And real-time speech analyzer helps improve your accent and pronunciation and also grammar checker to help explore all aspects of your writing, including sentence structure, sentence length, writing style, punctuation, voice, and much more,” IIT Madras said.

Those who are keen in undergoing formal certification, there are 7 level certifications which can be undergone in a self-paced manner:
— Grammar Assessment -Foundation level Topics
— Vocabulary Assessment – Higher Elementary level
— Listening Skill Assessment
— Reading Skill Assessment
— Speaking Skill Assessment
— Writing Skill Assessment
— Adaptive Assessments

To access the platform, IIT Madras students will have to fill in a Google doc form expressing their interest, which will help the Librarian to create an ID for the interested students. The link will be available at the official website of IIT Madras’ ‘BeHappy initiative’ — behappy.iitm.ac.in/communication-skills.html.

Once students register and after login, they will be able to see ‘My language LAB dashboard’ where features will be available in reference to listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and quiz.
