IIM Bangalore opens admissions for BSc (Hons) in Data Science and Economics for 2026 intake

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) has announced the opening of admissions for its new four-year, full-time residential BSc (Hons) programmes in Data Science and Economics. Applications for the 2026-27 academic year are now open and will close on November 20. Candidates can register at the institute website – ug.iimb.ac.in.

The programmes, which will be conducted at IIM Bangalore’s upcoming Jigani campus, offer two degree options – BSc (Hons) in Data Science, with a minor in Economics and BSc (Hons) in Economics, with a minor in Data Science.

The BSc (Hons) in Data Science is a full-time, residential programme that seeks to offer a foundation in data science, with a minor in Economics. It merges technical expertise in stochastic processes, algorithms, data structures, and psychology with practical business applications. The curriculum is designed to foster real-world problem-solving, strong analytical skills, and hands-on learning through internships, global immersion, and leadership development, a statement released by IIM Bangalore said. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science.

The BSc (Hons) in Economics is a full-time, residential programme that includes a Data Science minor and integrates core economic theory, statistical methods, econometrics, and behavioural insights, all underpinned by data mining techniques and applied business learning. The curriculum focuses on developing analytical depth, critical thinking, and professional skills, supported by internships, global exposure, and life-skill enhancement, the statement added. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Economics.

These undergraduate programmes, designed under the National Education Policy (NEP), aim to blend academic rigor with real-world application and experiential learning.

Eligibility Criteria

– Applicants must be 20 years or younger by August 1, 2026.
– Successful completion of Class 12 (or an equivalent examination) with mathematics as a subject.
– A minimum of 60 per cent marks in Mathematics in Class 10.

Each programme will admit 80 students in total (40 per major), ensuring small cohort sizes and personalised attention. The IIM Bangalore Undergraduate Admissions Test (IIMB UGAT) will be conducted on December 13, followed by in-person interviews in January 2026. Final admission offers will be made by February 28, 2026.
