IGNOU introduces PG diploma in Disaster Risk Reduction & Management

The newly launched PG diploma programme in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PGDDRRM) is only available in English and Hindi medium.

The Faculty of Public Administration, School of Social Sciences (SOSS) at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched the postgraduate diploma programme in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (PGDDRRM).  The last date to apply for the July session of IGNOU is June 30.

The course is designed for one year in open distance learning mode, candidates will be provided a maximum of three years and a minimum of one year to complete the course. The total fee of the programme is  Rs 7,400.

Applicants must note that the PG diploma programmes are only available in English and Hindi medium.

The PG diploma programme will provide students with comprehensive information about threats from nature, and human-induced hazards, disaster preparedness, mitigation, and rehabilitation and train them with hands-on skills in various aspects of disaster risk reduction and management.

Following NEP 2020, the programmes will include a component of internship to enhance student’s skills and provide them with real-world experience and implementation of their learning during the course.

Eligibility 

– Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

– There are no age limit criteria

The candidates can apply for this programme twice a year, during the July and January admission cycle of the IGNOU at the official website – ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.

Apart from students seeking admission, the programmes are also designed and cater for the needs of the military,  para-military, police, home guards, civil defence personnel, NGO and government persons, primary health centre functionaries, relief workers, social workers, environmentalists and many more.

Additionally, even academicians, geologists, scientists, meteorologists, engineers, journalists and officers from PSU and the corporate sector are eligible to seek admission.
