(Representative image. Express photo)DU UG First Merit List 2023 Updates: Delhi University (DU) today (August 1) released the first seat allocation list. Students who applied for DU in their CUET UG form can check their allocated college at the official website — du.ac.in.
As per the data given by the varsity, in its first round, 2,02,416 eligible candidates were considered for allocation based on their preferences of programme and college combinations. A total of 85,853 allocations have been done in the first CSAS round itself.
To check their allotted course and college, candidates will have to login to their student profile or dashboard. Aspirants will have time till August 4 to accept the allocated seats. They can finalise their payment against the seat till 4:59 pm of August 6.

The university considered 2,02,416 eligible candidates for seat allocation based on their preference of programme and college combination. A total of 7,042 candidates have got their first preference.

A total of 45,287 out of the total 85,853 seats have been allotted to women, amounting to more than 52 per cent of the seats. A total of 40,565 seats have been allotted to men and one seat to a transgender student.

In its first round, a total of 202416 eligible candidates were considered for allocation based on their preferences of programme and college combinations. A total of 85853 allocations have been done in the First CSAS round itself. This includes an allocation to all programmes in all colleges in UR, SC, ST, OBC(NCL), EWS and two supernumerary quotas, PwBD and Kashmiri Migrants. As many as 7042 candidates got their first preference. About 22000 candidates have been allocated a seat from their first five preferences.

A total of 72,769 students applied for BCom programme, making it the most preferred course across the university. BCom (Hons) came second with 67,686 applications and BA (Hons) came third with 62,680 registrations.
The most preferred college has been Kirori Mal College with 1,61,533 applications received. Hindu College came second with 1,58,548 applications and Hansraj College came third by receiving 1,57,162 applications.

The University of Delhi has launched new BTech programmes. The three new BTech programmes offered by DU are BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and BTech in Electrical Engineering.
DU will consider the Joint Entrance Exam (Main) scores for admission. There are 120 seats in each BTech programme.
As per the official schedule of Delhi University, candidates will have time till August 4 to accept their allocates seat, and till 4:59 pm of August 6 to finalise their payment against the first seat allocation list. After that, DU will display the list of vacant seats for further allocation rounds on August 7. Following that, candidates will have time from August 7 to 8 to re-order their higher preferences.
The DU CSAS second allocation list will be made available on August 10, and candidates will have time till August 13 to accept their allotted college. They will be given time till August 15 to finalise their payment against the second list.

Hindu College, too, retained its position at number 2. Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College ranked at number 6, which was an increase of one spot from 2022 rankings. Kirori Mal College (KMC) and Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR) shared the ninth rank this year.

The Delhi High Court has permitted the St Stephen’s College to conduct interviews for granting admission to students under the minority quota besides taking into consideration their common university entrance test scores.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma similarly permitted the Jesus and Mary College to hold interviews for the seats reserved for minority category students.
The court’s order came on applications by the two minority colleges to stay a December 8, 2022, decision of the executive council of the Delhi University (DU) insisting on 100 percent weightage for CUET 2023 score for admission to minority quota.
