This year, DU has also decided to hold entrance exams for certain undergraduate courses, including Bachelor of Management Studies, BA Multimedia and Mass Communication, Bachelor of Elementary Education, and Bachelor of Business Administration.

In a statement, DU Registrar Tarun Kumar Das, said, “The university will be completing registration of PhD, MPhil, postgraduate and undergraduate courses based on entrance examination on May 31. The statement added, “The eligible candidates are informed that the registration process will be completely online including sports, extra-curricular activities (ECA), Kashmiri Migrants and Defence category. The candidates will also be required to upload their self-attested documents online.”

The Registrar added, “The details of the registration process and subsequent procedures will be available in the bulletin of  information which will be uploaded online the same day.”

However, some students claimed there is no clarity over DU’s admission policy. The administration is has been silent on the new recommendations made by the 24-member admissions committee of the university.

The committee —comprising deans from faculties of science, commerce and arts, nine principals and members from the executive and academic councils — has suggested several changes in DU’s admission policy.

It has recommended that St Stephen’s College and Jesus and Mary College (JMC) be made part of the centralised registration process, while allowing them to have their own admission policy for selecting students.

It has also suggested that the Sports and ECA trials be centralised, more seats be added to certain courses and colleges, and the 5 per cent quota given to Kashmiri migrants be  continued.

Usually, the schedule as well as the admission policy are announced at least a week before the registration process begins.
