Central University of Pondicherry appoints Prof P Prakash Babu as Vice-Chancellor 

Prof Babu, a senior faculty at the department of biotechnology and Bioinformatics under the School of Life Sciences in Hyderabad University, has been appointed to the post for a period of five years.

The Ministry of Education has appointed Prof P Prakash Babu of the University of Hyderabad as the Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Pondicherry. Prof Babu, a senior faculty at the department of biotechnology and Bioinformatics under the School of Life Sciences in Hyderabad University, has been appointed to the post for a period of five years.

Prof. Babu’s academic journey includes a BSc in Zoology from Nagarjuna University, an MSc in Zoology from Andhra University, and a PhD from the School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad. His research areas are Neurosciences and Neurodegenerative diseases.

In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Pondicherry University ranks in a bandwidth of 101-150 for the year 2024. In the year 2023, the University was in the same rank band.

The University will also participate in CUET UG 2025 for various courses including BSc, BA, BTech, and integrated MA courses. The application process has been started, that will end on March 22. The examination will be conducted in completely online mode. This year, students can choose any subjects irrespective of whether they have appeared for them in Class 12. The number of subjects has also been reduced to 37 from earlier 63 and is based on the general aptitude test.

This year, the CUET UG examination will be held between May 8 and June 1, 2025. The official website is cuet.nta.nic.in.

Last year,  CUET UG 2024 was held in hybrid mode (CBT and pen and paper) mode on May 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, and 24 in 379 cities including 26 cities outside India for around 13.48 lakh candidates, about 1.58 lakh candidates appeared for seven test papers on May 29 and nearly 1,000 students took the CUET UG retest on July 19.
