A 48-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death inside a temple in East Delhi’s Mansarovar Park on Sunday afternoon, police said. Another woman, arrested within three hours of the incident, told police that she thought that the victim had “ill intentions” towards his family, they said.
The accused woman has been identified as Anchal Saxena.
Police said they received a PCR call around 12 pm and were told that a woman had been attacked at a temple inside a DDA flats complex. The victim was identified as Kusum Sharma, a resident of Mansarovar Park. She suffered multiple stab wounds on the head and upper body and was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.
“Preliminary investigation suggests that two people, including Saxena, repeatedly attacked Sharma with a knife, causing fatal injuries,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said.
“Prima facie, it appears to be an old enmity, but further investigation into the matter is underway. Multiple teams have been formed to investigate the case,” the DCP said.
Officers are scanning CCTV footage from the DDA flats, nearby streets, parks and entry-exit points to trace the movement of the attackers before and after the crime.
A case of murder has been registered at Mansarovar Park police station.
