The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on March 7 conducted the Social Science exam of Class 10 board exams which has been rated as easy by students and experts.

“Questions came from the NCERT boxes and contents. Except for one question in Geography (from the deleted portion), all questions were from the syllabus,” Arnav Mittal, a Class 10 student from Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad told indianexpress.com.

Class 10 Political Science question paper consisted of 37 questions with internal choice as per board pattern. “CBSE social science paper had questions that covered the entire syllabus. The paper consisted of four units: History Democratic Politics, Geography and Economics. Each unit carried roughly equal weightage. The difficulty level of the question paper was medium. All three sets contained mostly similar questions. There was a very minor change in long answer type questions across all the sets,” said Minal Bajpai, HOD Social Science, Billabong High International School, Malad.

Students and experts found the CBSE paper to be a balanced mix of analysis and application-based questions. “The question paper was a balanced mix of knowledge, analysis, and application-based questions,” said Priyanka Swami, TGT Social Science, KIIT World School, Gurugram.

The students who stuck to NCERT-prescribed study material would have been able to crack the questions easily, experts believe. “The paper aimed to evaluate students’ comprehension of prescribed texts, their ability to engage in critical analysis, and their proficiency in articulating knowledge effectively,” Jasmeet Kaur, HOD social science at Bhai Parmanand Vidya Mandir.

Alka Kapur, principal, Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, said: “The Class 10 Social Science board exam presented a well-rounded challenge with a moderate difficulty level, incorporating tricky Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) that encouraged critical thinking. All questions, sourced from NCERT textbooks, underscoring the importance of thorough preparation. Map-based questions provided a navigable segment, while subjective questions, particularly those based on statements, proved both thought-provoking and manageable. This balanced approach ensured a comprehensive evaluation of a student’s knowledge and analytical skills, making the exam an effective assessment tool.”
