CBSE Board 2025 Exams: List of ‘unfair practices’ you need to avoid

CBSE Board Exams 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the list of unfair practices that students of Classes 10 and 12 should avoid doing in the board exams. This year, over 44 lakh students will appear in the board exams for 204 subjects starting February 15.

Students should remember to follow the rules and regulations framed by the Board in the examination to avoid any penalties that also include cancellation of the exam for up to two years.

CBSE 2025: List of permitted items 

For Regular Students:

–Admit Card
–School Identity Card

For Private Students:

–Admit Card
–Any Government Issued Photo Identity Proof

Stationery Items:

–Transparent Pouch
–Geometry/Pencil Box
–Blue/Royal Blue Ink/Ball Point/Gel Pen
–Scale
–Writing Pad
–Eraser

Other Items:

–Analogue Watch
–Transparent Water Bottle
–Metro Card
–Bus Pass
–Money

CBSE 2025: List of barred items 

–Textual material (printed or written)
–Any communication devices
–Goggles
–Handbags
–Pouches
–Bits of papers
–Calculator
–Pen drives
–Log table (shall be provided by the centres)
–Electronic Pen/Scanne

Act of Unfair Practices  Penalties 
–Having or using any electronic devices which can be used as a communication device once entered the hall.

–Students affecting the rumours affecting the smooth conduct of the exam.

–Such an act will affect a CBSE student’s candidature for the current academic year along with next year with the cancellation of the candidature for all the subjects

 

–Having the previous year’s question paper

–Writing answers on any other paper other than the answer keys.

–Tearing page of any answer book or supplementary answer book.

–Communicating with any person, other than the staff in the examination centre.

–Having copying material (hard copy etc.) in possession but have not used it.

–Breaching examination rules or any direction

–Cancellation of the current academic year exam in the concerned subject where the incident happened.

–Such candidates will be allowed to take up the exam in the compartment examination, if otherwise eligible.

–The notification by CBSE also mentioned that the benefit of the doubt will be given to such student against whom no evidence is available to testify to the foul intent on their part.

–Affixing or uploading of fabricated photograph on the admit card.

–Erasing or obliterating any information printed on the answer book(s).

–Providing wrong information on the answer sheet.

–Having copying material in her/his possession

–Having communicated with another student or the assistant superintendent.

–Assisting another student to engage in malpractice

–Giving or trying to assist another student

–Taking assistance from other students

–In such situations, there will be a cancellation of the current examination in all subjects. Students will have to take the examination in all subjects in the next year.
–Taking the answer book out

–Smuggling out question paper, answer book, supplementary answer book or part

–Using abusive language, threatening the staff on duty

–Indulging in violence at the time of examination

–Forceful entry/exit in/from Examination Centre

–As per CBSE guidelines, there will be cancellation of the current as well as next year’s examination in all subjects opted by them. Such a student will have to take the examination in all subjects thereafter.
–Impersonation. Paying/placing/making someone else to write an examination.

–Uploading/sharing any examination-related material, correct or wrong, on social media.

–Approaching any Authority(ies)/person(s) related to the conduct of exams soliciting unauthorized privilege(s) in these examinations.

–Taking legal courses or any other means to influence CBSE to gain advantage in their favour, by providing false information.

–The cancellation of the current academic as well as of the next three years’ examination in all subjects. Students can take the examination in all subjects thereafter.
–Using obscene/derogatory language in the answer book.

–Using threatening language in the answer book

–Using language/threat of harm to oneself in the answer book with or without any appeal.

–Use of any other Ink or Pencil for writing answers in the answer book.

–Having enclosed/attached a currency note or other such instrument with the answer book with or without any appeal/message for the evaluator.

–The counselling of the student will be done by the committee so that she/he abstains from using such language in the answer book in future examinations. Currency notes etc. will be forfeited and deposited in the Board’s account.

Regular students will have to wear school uniforms while private candidates will have to wear light uniforms. All of these unfair acts must be supported by the report of the invigilator or checking staff present at the incident.
