ICAI postpones CA foundation exam; check revised schedule

The Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) has postponed the CA Foundation 2023 exam to December end and January 2024.

As per the new schedule, the CA Foundation exams will now be held on December 31, January 2, 4 and 6, 2024. Earlier, the exams were scheduled to be conducted on December 24, 26, 28 and 30 2023.

The institute also clarified that there will no change in the Intermediate, Final and PQC examinations, which are scheduled to be conducted between November 1 to 17.

“It is clarified that the other particulars / details announced vide Important Announcement No. 13-CA (Exams)/November – December/2023 dated 5th July 2023 shall remain unchanged,” the official circular stated.

Meanwhile, ICAI had recently released the CA foundation course results for May/ June 2023 exams. This year, 103517 students appeared for the foundation exam, of which, 25860 passed taking the pass percentage to 24.98. In order to clear the exam, the candidate needs to secure a minimum of 40 marks in each paper and 50 per cent marks in aggregate of all four papers in one sitting. Additionally, no merit list will be issued. There will be no pass certificate either. Candidates who will secure 70 per cent or above will get “Pass with Distinction” remark in their result card.
