The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has received a historic number of applications for the recruitment examination for Assistant Education Development Officer (AEDO) (Advertisement No. 87/2025). According to the commission, over 9.7 lakh applications were submitted by 7 pm on September 26, 2025. Remarkably, more than one lakh applications were received on the same day alone, the Commission said. The recruitment drive, however, seeks to offer a total of 935 posts for Assistant Education Development Officers, distributed across different categories. Out of these, 374 posts are for Unreserved (UR) candidates, 131 for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 150 for Scheduled Castes (SC), 10 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 168 for Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), 112 for Backward Classes (BC), and 90 for Backward Class Women (BCW). Additionally, in accordance with 35 per cent horizontal reservation for women, 319 posts are reserved across categories. For example, 131 posts are earmarked for women in the Unreserved category, 53 for EWS, 53 for SC, 4 for ST, 59 for EBC, 39 for BC, and 30 for BCW. According to BPSC, this marks the highest-ever number of applications in BPSC’s history for any single recruitment exam, BPSC added saying that over the past five days, the commission registered an average of 75,000 to 80,000 applications daily, peaking at more than one lakh on September 26. BPSC stated that its online application portal is functioning smoothly. However, due to heavy traffic and occasional network issues in some areas, the commission has appealed to candidates not to wait until the last moment to submit their applications. The deadline for applications is midnight on September 26, 2025. Officials acknowledged the significant role played by BPSC staff in ensuring the smooth handling of this unprecedented application volume.
