DMK Rajya Sabha member P Wilson has a unique way of deciding the issues to raise in Parliament. He makes public posts on various social media platforms before every session and asks people what they want raised during that session. This time, too, Wilson tweeted, asking people of Tamil Nadu to inform him about the things they want raised in the House — the tweet received more than 1 lakh views and the MP received 900-plus submissions. The most commonly raised issue, the MP has said, is that of “difficulties” with toll plazas in the state — that is, the rising price of toll. Wilson says he will raise it during the coming monsoon session in unstarred questions. Wilson will also sift through the responses to see if there are any particularly pressing or important issues; he will then raise those during Zero Hour or in special mentions. Going Local During the party's recent zonal meetings in Guwahati, Delhi and Hyderabad, the BJP leadership took feedback from state leaders on the recently rolled out Pravas Yojana. In the meetings, involving four top leaders from each state, BJP president J P Nadda sought a detailed review report on the programme, as part of which Union ministers have been entrusted with handling constituencies the party deems as “difficult” in the 2024 General Election. He wanted to know how the ministers' visits go in their constituencies; how they behave with BJP karyakartas; their response to issues raised by workers; and the overall impact of these visits. Interestingly, this came amid speculation over a possible Cabinet reshuffle — a topic on which no party leader seems to have clarity.
