The Supreme Court has invited suggestions from all stakeholders for revamping its official website. Sources say the existing one was designed more than a decade ago and Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud had been thinking of giving the website a new look even before he assumed office of the CJI. The idea is to provide users a simplified and user-friendly interface. A collaborative effort of the National Informatics Centre and the IT team of the Supreme Court, the relaunch of the website is expected to take at least two months. The CJI is monitoring the work on a weekly basis.

Different Cause

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairperson Priyank Kanoongo has given a twist to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Swachhata hi Seva hai’’ campaign to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He has written to women and child development departments of all States and UTs to carry out “rescue operations’’ of street children from identified hotspots in their areas. Though such operations are carried out on a regular basis, especially pursuant to last year’s Supreme Court order, this time it will be done in a mission mode.
