A RECENTLY released booklet titled ‘Har Didi Ek Kahani’, a collection of case studies featuring “successful Lakhpati Didis”, has become the latest topic of discussions among officers at Krishi Bhawan, the seat of several key ministries. The booklet carries messages from Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as well as J&K Rural Development Minister Javid Ahmed Dar. What has caught attention, however, is the uncanny similarity between the two messages. Observers point out that at least eight sentences in both messages are identical.

Question of Cows

AT AN event organised by the Ministry of Culture in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of cows, saying many in the country don’t consider them animals. “Hamare desh mein aise bahut log hain, aur visheshta yeh hai ki woh gaay ko animal nahi maante,” he said.

Service Recognition

It was an evening of recognition for Indian Forest Service officers as their association and Indian Masterminds, a platform that documents bureaucracy, feted eight of them in the capital on Thursday. From protection of wildlife to forest conservation and community engagement, and lifetime achievement, different facets of the service got recognition. Notable among the awardees was K M Abharna, whose past work in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal was the centre of the Vidya Balan-starrer ‘Sherni’. She was awarded for community connect.
