The Ministry of Culture hosted the Sahitya Akademi’s annual festival of letters — Unmesha: International Literature Festival — in Patna over the weekend, which attracted not only writers and academics, but also a host of political leaders and constitutional functionaries, including Vice President C P Radhakrishnan. The 2022 and 2023 editions of the festival were held in Shimla and Bhopal, respectively. Incidentally, Assembly elections took place in Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh the same year they hosted the event.
Sharing Experiences
BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, who headed the Joint Committee of the Parliament to examine the Waqf Amendment Bill that was passed six months back, still shares his experiences whenever he interacts with the minority community. The RSS-inspired Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) organised an All India Muslim Convention in New Delhi on Saturday where Pal addressed the audience. At the event, Pal greeted the crowd with ‘assalamu alaikum’, and used Urdu words ‘aksariyat’ (majority) and ‘aqliyat’ (minority) while sharing his learnings as the House panel chief.
Poll Preparations
Although the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections is not yet out, preparations are already underway. The Election Commission is set to conduct a comprehensive training session for senior officials who will serve as poll observers. Sources said the session is scheduled at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) in Dwarka, New Delhi, on Friday (October 3). The EC formally communicated this to the designated officials on Monday, it is learnt.
