Feeling humiliated and insulted,Trinamool MP from Tamluk Suvendu Adhiukari, who doubles up as state president of the partys youth wing Trinamool Youth Congress,is unlikely to attend the state convention of YUVA,the newly formed youth outfit of the party, which will be held on August 25 at Kolkatas Netaji Indoor stadium. Adhikari did not attend last Wednesdays public meeting at Belpahari addressed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It is for the first time that Mamatas meeting in Junglemahal was not attended by Adhikari. The Tamluk MPs supporters said that Adhikari had left his home to attend the meeting at Belpahari, but when he looked at the newspaper advertisement regarding the programme,he found his name missing from the list of invitees. A humiliated and shocked Adhikari returned home, they said. Following the partys debacle in Haldia municipality election,Adhikari wanted to quit the post of president of Trinamool Youth Congress saying that leaders of Kolkata dont want him to retain the post. But Mamata herself instructed him not to quit the post. When asked if he would attend the YUVA convention,Adhikari said: I am not going to comment on anything. When YUVA was instituted, leaders close to Adhikari could not understand the logic behind floating another organisation for youths because they felt that the Trinamool Youth Congress was functioning effectively. The MPs followers saw the formation of YUVA,under the leadership of Abhishek Banerjee,Mamatas nephew,as an attempt to cut Adhikari to size. Party sources said the MP,who never violated party line and always executed instruction of party chief,is feeling insulted because of the attempts by some senior leaders to corner him.
