No rallies should be held over the war in Israel, and no provocative messages should be shared on social media, Navsari police underlined on Friday in an advisory for citizens.
The advisory further highlighted that several teams are keeping an eagle eye on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, to check such messages in the district.
District Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal said, “The reason for such advisory is that with the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, people share many videos or other things on social media which may hurt the feelings of others or incite others. The things that are shared or forwarded may be not genuine… they may be doctored or old. We don’t want the peaceful atmosphere of the district should be harmed. If anybody is found doing such things, we will probe and later take strict legal actions.”
Violators will be dealt with strictly, police have said. “If anybody comes across such messages on social media forwarded in different groups from Navsari district, they should contact the Navsari police control room number 02637-246303,” read the advisory. ENS
