13-year-old boy stabs minor 14 times in Surat over friendship with girl, apprehended
The Surat police said the victim is in a critical condition and undergoing treatment at the New Civil Hospital.

A 12-year-old boy was admitted to the New Civil Hospital in Surat late on Tuesday night after he was allegedly stabbed 14 times by a 13-year-old boy. The police said the stabbing took place in the Pandesara area and added that the victim is undergoing treatment but is still in a critical condition.
According to the police, the 12-year-old boy is friends with a girl whom the 13-year-old boy wanted to befriend. However, the girl refused to be friends with him.
On Tuesday night, the 12-year-old boy, a student of Class 6 in a municipal school, had gone out to dump garbage at an open ground near a water canal close to his home.
While he was dumping the garbage, the 13-year-old boy spotted him and picked up a fight with him. Subsequently, the 13-year-old boy repeatedly stabbed the younger boy and escaped after critically injuring him.
Three local youths of the area, who knew the 12-year-old boy, found him lying by the road and brought him home. His parents then rushed him to the New Civil Hospital where he was admitted to the emergency ward.
The victim’s father lodged a complaint with the police Wednesday morning. The police registered an offence under IPC Sections 326 (voluntarily causing hurt by use of dangerous weapon) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and apprehended the minor accused.
Pandesara police inspector N K Kamaliya said, “We will produce the minor accused before the Juvenile Justice Board for further process and he will be sent to a children’s remand home. We have also seized the knife used by the minor boy to stab the victim.”
Kamaliya added, “According to the investigation, the accused minor had been forcing the victim not to talk to the girl whom he wanted to befriend but the victim had refused to pay heed to him which led to the stabbing.”
