Chandigarh-Shimla highway closed due to landslides, check out the alternate routes
As per the alternate route plan, traffic from Shimla to Chandigarh is diverted through Kumarhatti for Lavasa, Nahan, and Johar ji-Kamli road.

Fresh landslides near the Chakki Mor since Tuesday night have led to the closure of the Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway 05 once again. Even as officials are working to clear the highway, commuters claim to have been stuck for hours.
SP, Solan, Gaurav Singh, explained, “Last night, due to a landslide at Chakki Mor in Parwanoo, the national highway had to be closed down. Though we are clearing the highway on a war footing, it may take one to two days before it’s opened for traffic. We’ve issued alerts through various channels, including Twitter, and provided an alternate route for the traffic.”
As per the alternate route plan, traffic from Shimla to Chandigarh is diverted through Kumarhatti for Lavasa, Nahan, and Johar ji-Kamli road. Heavy vehicles from Shimla to Kunihar-Pinjore road, and those from Parwanoo to Solan have been stopped at Parwanoo. Only light vehicles are allowed on the Parwanoo to Kasauli-Dharampur-Solan route. Singh urged people and tourists to cooperate with the department during this situation.
Meanwhile, many commuters who were caught unaware by the landslide, were stranded at various points on the highway for over five hours on Wednesday morning.
Commuters, like Seema Rani, a tourist from Chandigarh, expressed their frustration, stating, “We thought the highway was open for traffic and decided to leave for Shimla, only to find out about the fresh landslide at Chaki Mor in Parwanoo. We’ve been waiting for more than five hours for the highway to reopen.”
