Water Resources and Water Supply Minister Kunvarji Bavaliya inaugurated a sewage treatment plant (STP) and sewage network in Vinchhiya village, the headquarters of Vinchhiya taluka in Rajkot district, on Thursday. Bavaliya cut the ceremonial ribbon of the STP having the capacity to treat three million liters per day (MLD) of sewage water. The Minister, who is a BJP MLA from the Jasdan Assembly constituency of which Vinchhiya is a part, also inaugurated an underground sewage collection network laid in Vinchhiya village. The twin projects have been set up at a total cost of Rs 35.10 crores, an official release said. “Thanks to this project of managing sewage water, cleanliness in the town (sick) will improve,” Bavaliya said. “Sewage water treated at this plant will be fit to be used in agriculture. This, in turn, will augment the availability of irrigation water in this area," he added. Bavaliya further said the scheme to supply drinking water to Vinchhiya from Goma dam, around 11 km east from Vinchhiya village, will also be revived.
