The environment department of the Pune Municipal Corporation will conduct a series of workshops between November 9 and December 23 at the Indradhanushya,Environment and Citizenship Centre,Mhatre Bridge, for preparing the Environmental Status Report (ESR) of 2011-12. The ESR will be prepared along with the participation of non-profit organisations, corporators, citizens and the PMC officials.
The report will be based on the DPSIR guildelines provided by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. DPSIR stands for driving force, pressure, status, impact and response.
Due to growing industrialisation, the job opportunities are increasing in the city but the quality of air, water, soil and sound is declining day by day. This adversely effecting the human health, biodiversity and various other environmental components. So the ESR will aim at improving the Environmental Performance Index of the city.
