The MPCB said it has received around 350 EPR plans from plastic manufacturers in the past few months. “...It was surprising to find out that not more than ten per cent of the total plans was functional,” said a senior MPCB official.
The MPCB had made it mandatory to set up an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to treat the waste generated in slaughterhouses and to ensure that no untreated waste was released. The remains of the animals also have to be disposed of in accordance with the guidelines of the MPCB.
While the single crackers were found to be within their permissible limits of 125 dB(A), with most measuring between 116 to 119 dB(A), they were still found to be higher than last year's highest reading of 117 dB(A).
