Women’s wing chiefs of both NCPs take on each other

A political war of words erupted between the presidents of the state women’s wings of the NCP and NCP(SP) Friday over the case into the alleged suicide death of expelled NCP leader Rajendra Hagawane’s daughter-in-law Vaishnavi.

State NCP (SP) women’s wing chief Rohini Khadse took on her NCP counterpart Roopali Chakankar, who is also chairperson of the state women’s commission, for not taking swift action against the accused in the case.

“Why shouldn’t an offence be registered against her (Chakankar) for not performing her duty properly,” said Khadse, adding that the chairperson of the state women’s commission always wakes up late in acting against complaints. Khadse had visited the parents of the deceased in the case.

Chakankar, who later in the day visited the parents of Vaishnavi hit out at Khadse. “She does not have the right to say anything like this when she is not aware of actual facts. The state women’s commission was the first to initiate action and direct police to investigate,” she said. She added that there was a complaint from the wife of Khadse’s personal secretary against her husband (the personal secretary) over harassment.

“It was Khadse and her other supporters who threatened the wife of a personal assistant. They warned her if she went out to file a complaint against the personal assistant. This is how she is,” said Chakankar.
The NCP leader also took a dig at NCP executive president Supriya Sule saying some wake up late and take to twitter to criticise the system.

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Sushma Andhare posted pictures of Chakankar with accused persons in the case on social media. “It is evident from the picture that they were not mere acquaintance but share good relations,” she said.
