Amid speculation over a merger of the two NCPs, the Sharad Pawar-led party has sought to corner the Ajit Pawar-led party over a suicide abetment and dowry harassment case booked against its leader Rajendra Hagawane after his daughter-in-law was found dead at their home on May 16.

“We are going to protest at BalGandharva Chowk demanding the arrest of Ajit Pawar-led NCP’s Mulshi unit chief, Rajendra Hagawane, and severe punishment for all accused in connection with the death of Vaishnavi Hagawane,” said Prashant Jagtap, chief of the NCP (SP) in Pune city.

We met the parents of Vaishnavi and the party’s executive president, Supriya Sule, spoke to them via videoconferencing and assured them that everything possible would be done to ensure strict punishment for the accused,” he said.
