Women’s Futures: Ankita Raina,Prerna Bhambri in semifinals

Prerna Bhambri kept up with her winning ways to beat unseeded Aishwarya Agarwal while fourth seeded Miki Miyamura of Japan outplayed eighth seed Shivika Burman to make it to the last four .

In the quarterfinals matches played to day Elodie upset the tall and lanky Venkatesha 3-6,6-2,6-2. Elodie will now take on unseeded Prerna Bhambri comprehensively defeated Aishwarya Agrawal 7-5,6-3.

In the lower half fourth seeded Miki Miyamura of Japan who thrashed Burman 6-2,6-1 will clash with giant Killer Ankita Raina who accounted for the seasoned campaigner and second seed Rushmi Chakravarthi 7-5,1-6,6-0.

Ankita who moved to Pune from Ahmedabad and is supported by the city based LAKSHYA and coached by Hemant Bendrey made it to her maiden semifinal round in a women’s event.

Chakravarthi however had the consolation of making it to the doubles finals along with partner Sanaa Bhambri after the pair easily defeated Sophia Mulsap and Natchanok Saenyaukhot 6-3,6-1 in the doubles semifinals.

The pair will take on the second-seeded pair of Miki Miyamura and Moe Kawatoko of Japan who defeated Treta Bhattacharya and Poojashree Venkatesha 6-3,6-1.
