Pimpri Chinchwad police on Wednesday arrested a youngster who allegedly sought sexual favours from a woman and murdered her when she refused. Police have identified the accused as Arif Zulfikar Mallik (21), a resident of Moshi. Police said the victim is a 32-year-old woman. She was the wife of a construction worker hailing from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, currently residing at the labour camp of a residential project in Ravet. Her husband Pramod Yadav has lodged an FIR at Ravet police station. Police said the victim was found dead in the store room inside the club house of an under construction residential society in Ravet. Sub inspector Anil Tarfe said, “Probe revealed that accused Arif approached the victim woman when she was alone at the store room inside the club house of the residential society in Ravet.” “He allegedly sought sexual favours from her. But she refused and told him that she would inform her husband and complain to the police. The accused then got angry and attacked her with a hard object, causing her death. The accused has been arrested and a court has remanded him to police custody for five days. Further investigation is on,” said Tarfe, the investigation officer. Tarfe said the accused is a plumber by profession and worked at the same construction site. Police have booked him under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
