A 26-year-old woman who had come to Pune from Karnataka for a job interview was allegedly molested by an auto driver in the early hours of Wednesday.
The Hadapsar police said the woman,an MBA graduate,had taken a bus to Pune and had reached in the early hours.
Senior inspector Raghunath Jadhav of Hadapsar police station said,She got down at Gadital and hired the auto around 5 am. Instead of going to the place where she had an interview,he took her to a lonely spot and stopped the vehicle. As she was asking why he had stopped,he molested her,following which he slapped her. He also hit her twice. The complainant raised an alarm after which he fled.
Residents alerted the police and a team brought the girl to the police station. We are yet to identify the suspect. The complainant is unable to recall the registration number. We have launched a search, said Jadhav.
