Woman bites CISF constable at Pune airport after quarrel with co-passengers

Police say the woman, a housewife, was headed to Uttar Pradesh via Delhi to attend rituals related to the death of a relative.

Police have booked a 44-year-old woman for allegedly biting a woman constable of the Central Industrial Security Force after a quarrel with her co-passengers on a flight to Delhi at Pune International Airport.

The Vimantal police booked the woman, a resident of Wakad, on charges of causing disturbance in government work under sections 132, 121 (1) and 351 (2) (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on Saturday after the 26-year-old CISF constable, also a woman, lodged a complaint.

Police Sub-inspector Gulabrao Holkar said the accused is a housewife. “She and her family members were going to Delhi from Pune by flight. Then, from Delhi, they wanted to go to a place in Uttar Pradesh to attend rituals related to the death of their relative,” said Holkar.

But after boarding the flight on Saturday morning, the woman allegedly quarrelled with two passengers over a petty issue and thrashed them.

After receiving information about the incident, two CISF constables rushed to the flight. While the constables were trying to bring the situation under control, the woman allegedly bit on the left hand of one of them.

The woman has been given a notice to join the investigation. She has not been arrested yet.
