The Pune Fire Brigade rescued three people after the wall of an old wada in Ganesh Peth where they were residing collapsed in the early hours of Monday. The fire brigade identified the three people as Shila Rajkumar Chorghe,40, Srushti Rajkumar Chorghe, 12, and Pramod Kedari, 41. The fire brigade’s control room received a call about the wall collapse around 1.40 am. Soon a team of firemen rushed to the spot. “We got a call that the wall of an old wada at 370, Ganesh Peth, collapsed over a vehicle. But when we reached the spot along with the Pune city police, it was found that a family inside the wada was stuck as the wall that collapsed had closed the entrance of their house,” said a fireman named Sunil Name. “It was possible to get them out through the neighbouring house that was locked. The police allowed us to break the lock and rescue the family. Accordingly, three persons were safely moved out of the dilapidated wada. No casualties were reported in the incident,” said Name. A wada is a traditional cluster house in which several families stay in a large building.
