The election commission has extended the deadline for voters registration till November 20. The earlier deadline was October 31. Officials of the district election office said the deadline has been extended so that more people can register. They said they have received around 65,000 applications,of which 10,000 applications are being verified for name and address in the voters list. Deputy election officer Apurva Wankhede said the special summary revision drive was carried out in October. The district election office has also received 4,500 applications seeking removal of names of dead and those who have relocated. After verification,the names will be included in the list and citizens will be issued voter identity cards. Updated voters list will be released on January 5.
