Vistadome coaches a hit on scenic Pune-Mumbai route, high occupancy results in windfall revenue

The Pune-Mumbai Pragati Express witnessed an impressive occupancy rate exceeding 100 percent in the up direction (from Pune to Mumbai), generating a revenue of Rs. 6.96 crore. Similarly, the Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai Deccan Express recorded a remarkable 98.8 percent occupancy with 15,564 passengers, resulting in a revenue of Rs. 1.18 crores.

The introduction of Vistadome coaches on CR began with the Mumbai-Madgaon Janshatabdi Express in 2018. Due to high passenger demand, a second Vistadome coach was added to the Mumbai-Madgaon Route on the Tejas Express starting from September 15, 2022.

The immense popularity of these coaches led to their inclusion in the Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express starting from June 26, 2021. Responding to passenger demand, two additional Vistadome coaches were attached to the Deccan Queen from August 15, 2021, and to the Pragati Express from July 25, 2022. Furthermore, a Vistadome coach was added to the Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express from August 10, 2022.

Apart from featuring glass roofs, the Vistadome coaches offer various other amenities such as wide windowpanes, LED lights, rotatable seats, pushback chairs, electrically operated automatic sliding compartment doors, wide side sliding doors for Divyangs, and toilets with ceramic tile flooring.
