Close on the heels of their thrilling draw earlier, the Friends XI managed to secure a win against CMDA in the Rangachar Memorial Veterans Cricket Tournament at the NCL Ground on Wednesday.
CMDA were put in to bat first and none of their batsmen could settle at the crease,as the batting lineup rapidly crumbled for a paltry total score of 103.
Sangham Jadhavrao and Pritam Shetty were the only notable performers for the batting side, scoring 26 and 22 respectively.
Friends XI bowlers put up a good show, picking up wickets at regular intervals. Ganesh Wagule and Satish Jawale bagged three wickets apiece, while Sunil Gaikwad finished with commendable bowling figures of 2/12. The run chase was not at all difficult for the Friends XI batsmen,as CMDA struggled to defend such a low score. Shetty took three wickets to keep them in the hunt, but in the end it was in vain as Friends cruised to 104/5 with six overs to spare. Rajesh Waghela scored 32,and was ably supported by Mustaq Shaikh, who chipped in with 26 runs.
