Vandalism by miscreants: Seven cops suspended

PUNE Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr on Thursday night suspended seven police personnel, including five officers and two constables, from Sahakarnagar police station in the backdrop of two incidents of vandalism reported in the area by gangs of local miscreants. Over the last 10 days, two incidents were reported in the jurisdiction of Sahakarnagar police station in which multiple vehicles were vandalised by miscreants.

While one incident was reported from Annabhau Sathe vasahat, another was reported a week before that from Taljai Hill area.

In an order issued on Thursday night, the police commissioner suspended five officers including a senior police inspector, one police inspector, one assistant inspector, two sub inspectors and two constables.

All the seven cops have been suspended for dereliction of duty while being posted at the Sahakarnagar police station, pending an inquiry.

The order states that the failure to do the assigned tasks had led to multiple law and order situations in the jurisdiction.
