Fergusson College entered the semifinals of the Pune District Under-19 Volleyball Championship organised by the Shikshan Mandal at the Azam Campus on Tuesday,with a convincing victory over Bharat English School.
The Fergusson players started on a bright note,and kept up the tempo throughout the match to prevent their opponents from grabbing the lead.
After taking the first set 25-17,they won the second set 25-14 to cap off a well-deserved victory and gain entry into the penultimate stage of the tournament. Swapnil Sontakke,Prathamesh Padhye and Rohan Patil starred for the winners,while the losing team’s pride was salvaged to some extent by Ketan Jain,Onkar Thakur and Vivek Mane
The R.R. Shinde High School also made it to the last four,defeating the Don Bosco School in straight sets.
Ajay Devkar,Pritam Pawar and Suraj Shinde were instrumental in ensuring Shinde High School a 25-18,25-17 win,while Kamlakar and Anthony put up a spirited fight for Don Bosco.
